After two years of being a Conditional Permanent Resident a Green Card holder must file to Remove Conditions. See this Guide and Section 7 of the FAQ's for general information on removing conditions.

per the USCIS:

The I-751 is used for a conditional resident who obtained status through marriage to apply to remove the conditions on his or her residence.

Filing Form I-751?

Want to know what you can and can't do after your card expires?

Missed the small print in Ewok's post?

Read the USCIS page first, please.

How Do I Remove the Conditions on Permanent Residence Based on Marriage?

If you file your USCIS Form I-751 (Petition to Remove the Conditions on Residence) on time, the USCIS will extend your conditional resident status for up to 12 months while your Form I-751 petition is under review.

Me: You will be mailed a letter receipt for your I-751 stating the above. Carry it and your expired Green Card as proof of your continued status as a PR. ie: Nothing Changes.

dang, I've been dreading the hammer falling.. :D

I dont' know when/if they'll come back at this point. I suggest you use an advanced google search, narrowed to visajourney and then read the cached version (might even be able to plug that thread number in).

There are also plenty of submission lists posted in the current forum, and you can search this group: http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdispla...une=-1&f=35

Unless things have changed you couldn't check the status of an I-751 online. About all you could do is check the Service Center processing dates to have an idea of where you stand. Has this been changed to allow the case status of an I-751 to be checked online?

I can't find a direct link to it anywhere.

I'm not talking about case status. I'm talking about the removal of conditions info that used to be in the "How Do I" section of the Website. The old "How Do I" section is gone and the have moved sh*t all over the place and it some cases the only way I have found to location some info is through the Search fuction and then wade through pages of hits.

They changed.

apparently now *some* people get a second NOA receipt number that can be individually tracked online. It's the one with a header CRI89 , CONDITIONAL RESIDENCE I-89 CARD RECEIVED AT SERVICE CENTER which leads ME to believe that that is the card order form, and this is a new entry in the process--we didn't get to hear about the card order before. Some folks are asked to send in their biometric info *before* approval, and they are the ones who get this email.

You still can't check your initial submission number.

Too much information, if you ask me. ;)

Here's a sample affidavit for use by those who need/want to use affidavits as evidence supporting their petition. You'll need to change certain obvious things -- the A#/alien number at the top and the names of the joint petitioners (i.e., to those of you and your spouse) and the affiant/person making the affidavit, etc. But this is what a real affidavit should look like. And, of course, as it indicates, it must be notarized.

Hi,

We have to file my husband's 751 before August 8th this year. We just opened an English pub/restaurant together in Wisconsin so I have that paperwork, bills in both our names, etc. Our checking accounts are just in each of our names. Will that be a problem?

Also, how long should I expect to wait before I hear anything about this removal of conditions.

Thanks

Wanda
