One thing I miss about Canada: Snow. Yes, I miss snow. Living in California we don't get a lot of rain let alone snow. I could use some white stuff.

My sister worked at a Tourism Welcome Center in Qualicum Beach a couple years ago, she had it in inventory and sent it down... love this guy. He hangs from my rear-view mirror.

Mmm... my biscuits were really good today. I used a different recipe that called for shortening instead of oil. It was a lot yummier. This is only the third time I've ever made biscuits. Never made them before I moved down here... it's a southern thing!

So I just thought I would let everyone know that the sun is shining...it is harvest time where I live in North Dakota...the wheat is waiting to be cut ...soon it will
:lol: That has me rolling on the ground laughing!!!!! You are an optomist. I HATE harvest time. It is the most stressful time of the year. Everyone is crabby, I don't see my husband. And if the wheat was waiting to be cut and it wasn't getting done.... :o that would not make for happy times around here. :P But on the positive note you want to hear.... The hubby finished harvest last week, so everything is good. :) Oh, Vnoe, love that you can make peace of it. Cheers!

biscuits and gravy are a big thing here .. my husband makes it with just self rising flour and buttermilk (nothing else) coated in a little bit of the bacon and or sausage grease baked in a cast iron pan in the oven .. mmmm ... good

11/19/07- EAD approved online and received same day (actual approval 11/07/07) :)

12/27/07 - AOS transferred to CSC

02/26/08 - 485's approved without interview

01/14/09 - Sent I-751 - removal of conditions

02/23/10 - Biometrics

03/17/10 - Removal of conditions approved .. card production ordered

Canada in the fall is so beautiful. I'm definetely going to miss it this fall.

My allergies have kicked in! :( sneezing and throat tickling and the like! Yucckkkk!

On a positive note, I just want to say to you guys that Im sorry about today and I do feel bad about what happened. I think I'm going to just stay here in the safe haven from now on if yall will have me :lol:

Joel and I just got home from The Crimson Moon where we listened to some very good Celtic Rock music by our favourite band....Emerald Rose. We had mango tea and decadent chocolate cake. The atmosphere was great as always. Yeah, I'd say we had a fabu time. Well, I always have a great time with my Joel wherever we go. :wub:

I've been reading all the rants and problems going on. Well needless to say I am a Libra....I love harmony and things in balance. I don't like confrontation....in fact I'm probably just a big baby. So I figured we could all find a little peace in our lives.

So I just thought I would let everyone know that the sun is shining...it is harvest time where I live in North Dakota...the wheat is waiting to be cut ...soon it will be winter and so very cold but freshingly white and bright. Time for play in the snow with the snowmobiles...No downhill skiing here...no hills.

It's actually chilly out this morning! I am speechless! Well, chilly for me that is. Joel says it feels quite comfortable out. I have a pot of Gevalia coffee brewing and I'm staring at a hunk of pound cake for brekkie. As soon as my sweetness gets home from work, we're going to one of our local home improvement stores and do some scouting for landscaping ideas for our new house. Trees, shrubs, that sort of thing. Oh and a herb garden too. :D

W just saw Emerald Rose last week at Dragon Con. Twice over the weekend actually, on Thursday night for early arrivals party, and on Friday night for An Evening at Bree (they're Lord of the Rings fan geeks ;) ). :D

Anyone care to share some biscuit recipes?

This is the one I used last nght and turned out really good.

Flaky biscuits

2 cups all purpose flour

1 tbsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

1/2 cup vegetable shortening, chilled and cut into 1/4" cubes

3/4 cup cold soy or rice milk (unsweetened)

1. Mix the flour, baking powder and salt in a large mixing bowl.

2. With a pastry cutter or 2 butter knives (or in the food processor)s, cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse oatmeal.

3. Mix in the cold soy milk with a fork until mixture is just moistened and let rest for 1 minute.

4. Gently roll out about 1/2" thickness onto a floured surface and cut out about 12 biscuits around 2" x 2". Or if you're lazy like me, just divide dough into 12 pieces and gently shape 12 disc shapes 1/2" thick.

5. Bake at 450 for 10-15 minutes until lightly golden and knife or toothpick comes out clean.
