How did this thread get to 15 pages without anyone reporting the blatant racism of the OP?

Feel free.

Every single person who has posted in this thread has vehemently disagreed with his b/s. You'd think that would tell him something.

Yes. You and SteveLaura, jenn3539, Caladan, thetreble, Mister Fancypant just nailed it. Just tell me where to send the trophies..

This is not a personal jab at you...promise, but were you home schooled?

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Here are some stats:

Black Americans are 5 times more likely to be incarcerated than white Americans. Ratio being highest in the blue states, where the least live.

45,000,000+ Americans live in 'poverty'. Out of those roughly 8,750,000 are Black Americans living in poverty. Which basically means 80% of Americans living in poverty are not Black.

I do not see a clear correlation between poverty and crime as the rate of poverty amongst Black Americans is not 5 times the national average; when compared to being imprisoned.

Because you're pulling statistics out of the air - and not applying them to any specific geographical context.

Why is it that you have volunteered none of this knowledge in the thread? Sorry - I'm calling shenanigans here.

If that were true - it would seems to me that you'd have a tad more substantive info to share on the subject. Otherwise this would not have come as a surprise...

Is that good enough for you. Or should we take a look at Detroit. Next on the list?

The following are the Poorest American cities:

1 Miami, FL $24,031

2 Newark, NJ $26,309

3 Cleveland, OH $27,871

4 Detroit, MI $27,871

5 Buffalo, NY $28,544

6 St. Louis, MO $30,389

7 Philadelphia, PA $30,631

8 Milwaukee, WI $31,231

9 New Orleans, LA $31,369

10 El Paso, TX $31,764

11 Tucson, AZ $31,901

12 Pittsburgh, PA $31,910

13 Cincinnati, OH $31,960

14 Memphis, TN $32,399

Newark eh? Ever been there?

In the year 2006, Newark topped its record of homicides at 106.[30] With three times the number of homicides per capita as New York, Newark remains as one of the most violent cities in the country.[30] The city is on pace to match or break its homicide record again in 2007.

The city's mayor, Cory Booker, is a member of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns Coalition[31], a bi-partisan group with a stated goal of "making the public safer by getting illegal guns off the streets." The Coalition is co-chaired by Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

In Newark, as in other cities, the rise in homicides and other violent crimes occurs mostly in low-income, minority neighborhoods, where guns are plentiful and the narcotics trade is flourishing. In many cases, both perpetrators and victims have criminal pasts that involve drugs. Police note that guns are used in 90 percent of Newark’s homicides; a fundamental challenge is reducing their abundance.

What about Philadelphia?

According to statistics from 2004, there were 5,513.5 crimes per 100,000 people in Philadelphia.[43] In 2005, going by these statistics, Philadelphia was ranked by Morgan Quitno as the sixth-most dangerous American city with a population of over 500,000 out of a total of 32 such cities. Among its neighboring Mid-Atlantic cities in the same population group, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. were ranked second- and third-most dangerous cities in the United States, respectively, and Camden, New Jersey across the Delaware River from Philadelphia, was ranked as the most dangerous city in the United States. [44]

Recently, statistics released in 2006 named Camden the fifth-most dangerous city in the country, representing a minor improvement from its 2004 ranking, considering the city is still ranked high but is not one the largest cities in the country. Philadelphia now ranked 29th. However, Philadelphia experienced its highest murder rate in over a decade in 2006, with 406 murders in the city.[45]

First of all why do you think I mentioned it in the first place. Second of all I have mentioned by education before, a while back.

You seem to read what you want to read and ignore the rest. IE EG:

I grew up outside of Pittsburgh. It's often voted as one of the most livable cities. It's 'poor', but you know, when you can have a four bedroom house in a great suburb for $150,000, averaging $30K a year is more than sufficient. Stay away if a low cost of living scares you.

Yeah I give up trying to see what point you're trying to make - because no sooner does someone reveal it to be complete bull$hit then you turn tail and try to go down another path or else reverse your position and say that's what you mean't all along.

When I say there is a correlation between poverty and crime - I mean just that. I'm not naive or stupid enough to believe that those two lists should be ranked identically and I certainly don't believe that poverty and crime exist in some sort of stale, static relationship. I don't believe that has ever been suggested.

Dangerous cities in what context?

The annual FBI analysis? Nope. Infragard? Nope. DHS? Nope.

From where, are you drawing your data?

Your data is absolutely wrong.

Moreover - looking at general data at that sort of high level is really only the tip of the iceberg. Essentially if you look at it that way - the implicit assumption being made is that there are no regional differences between any of those cities.
