There is a better then small chance I will be deployed to Afghanistan as an Individual Augmentee. I remember reading somewhere that the process can be expidited for service members being deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq. I just don't remember where. Right now we are waiting for her paperwork to arrive at the Manila embassy. I am planning on calling tonight to see if we can get bumped up in line for the interview. Sorry if we push anyone else back.

Any other current or former service members have experience with this?

The one time I saw the consulate in Montreal expedite a visa interview was when the USC in the relationship was two or so months away from being deployed to Iraq. Not sure what the Manila embassy will require to expedite the interview (deployment paperwork maybe?), but it can't hurt to inquire.

Best wishes for your safety. (F)

Yu and Dan: Thanks, that's just about what I was looking for. Although I do remember something on the USCIS website that specificly metioned those deployments.

Here is another interesting development. If I do end up going thereis a Dairy Queen on the base owned by the same company she works for now. She can get a transfer and at least we would be able to see each other regularly.

Good idea, also can do AOS, while deployed, and if and when she does get green-card, time overseas in the military is not counted against the residency time required for citizenship.

Lastly being in the military, you only need to meet 100% poverty line to sponsor using I-864 for AOS.

Fax your request to the Immigrant Visa Section in Manila along with either a copy of your orders or a letter from your commander (both if possible). They respond to expedite faxes very quickly. I faxed an expedite request there and it was granted in less than 24 hours. The fax number can be found on enbassy's website on the contacts page for the Immigrant Visa Section.
