I often talk to my fiancee over the phone, email each other regularly and even snail mail each other..However, the uncertainty of not knowing when this whole process would complete and having to wait to see each other until then takes a toll..

What else could you(VJ members) suggest or have done to keep the communication, excitement

going on?

Webcams and Yahoo or other IM service with webcam ability made all the difference for us, before and after we met.

I agree with pushbrk and suggest a webcam. That is about the closest you can feel without actually being together. We will get on webcam and talk on the phone at the same time. Seems a better communication than using the voice programs with yahoo or whatever site we are on.

Along with that you just need a lot of patience and faith. It is a long and stressful journey and can certainly take it's toll. Just have faith that one day you will be together and the rewards that you reap at that time will be that much better.

Darryl and I feel that we have been through so much before we even get to be together, we will be able to face any challenge once we are together. May sound odd, but this has made our relationship even stronger and I feel closer to him than ever before.

Have breakfast together online. We used to share our Sunday breakfasts with each other, as if we were sitting at a table eating together. It was a pleasant time. We usually were at the computer, but sometimes on the phone - although eating while on the phone wasn't always the most enjoyable experience VBG. We would share links or photos of things that we had done (concerts, events, etc.) so it was a bit of a joint experience:-). We also participated in an online meditation in a chat room every week with several of our friends - again, another shared activity. You could each rent the same movie and 'watch' it together (if that is feasible).

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

I agree with the watching movies idea. We watch movies sometimes and it's a nice way to "be" together doing the same thing without actually being in the same room (We just watched Police Academy). Also, you could consider playing a game online. We play backgammon and scrabble a lot while talking on skype. It's nice to talk, but it's also good to shake things up a bit. :P It's not the same as in person... but you can still yell at the other when they kick your piece back to start (even if you can't pelt them with pillows)! :) Having said that... I would also be interested in knowing what other people do :)

for special occasions like valentines day or anniversaries we have dinner together. We get dressed up in nice clothes (silk dress, no pantyhose and my feet in flip flops, but he can't see that :P) and have a nice meal with the webcams and skype on.

We are almost constantly in contact. As soon as I wake up I stagger to my puter and say hello while he's at work. We chat a little more when I get to work until it's time for him to leave work for the day. A couple of hrs later we have :D time as we call it. 2-3 hrs of chat and webcam time until it's time for him to get to bed. So for me we are together from 7 am till 4 pm and for him it's 1 pm till 10 pm.

We also exchange letters, cards, emails, phone calls and care packages. The care packages have kind of slacked off since the price hike :( We sometimes mail each other a shirt we've worn to sleep for a week or slept on pillowcases to cuddle with. Yeah, we're a couple of sappy dorks

We used to just talk and talk and talk. Every night after he got off work (well, really early a.m.), we would talk until one or both of us was ready to sleep.

You can play interactive games online together too. Me and my husband (fiance at the time) used to love playing eachother in Yahoo Pool! You can play against eachother, chat and webcam at the same time. it was FUN!! :)
