I have just come back from going for my new medical, due to the one that the USCIS lost, and I got an RFE for.

They never gave me a TB skin test. I showed them my x-rays from home and the results page from that x-ray. They made copies of it and all my other papers, and only drew blood for my HV test.

I gotta go back in 2 weeks time to pick up all of my paper work.

Is this all ok?

A chest x-ray is a more accurate way of checking for TB. If you had a recent chest x-ray to show and it was clear, then there was no reason to do a TB skin test.

The TB skin test only shows if you have ever been exposed to TB and must be checked after 3 days. If the skin test has a reaction, then there are TB antibodies present in the body and a chest x-ray is done to determine if the person has TB.

We had our AOS interview on 5/30/2007 in Atlanta and were told that there is a new requirement by the Center of Disease Control that TB skin test be completed even if there is a clear chest X-ray. We rec'd a RFE for the TB skin test. We were given an appointment to return following the TB skin test. We returned to the same civil surgeon, and paid $50 each for the TB skin tests, we returned 3 days later and picked up results in the sealed envelope, the doctor added the skin test results to the original medical that was completed in March 2006.

Good Luck at your interview, if you decide to request a skin test could prevent a delay of your approval or can just wait until the interview to see if one is requested, doesn't take long to take the test and submit results.

You need to have a skin test now. I went to my AOS interview today and got an RFE for it. My GC got approved but I need to get this test done.

The doctor that I went to at the beginning of the year did a skin test on me. I am suprised how different USCIS certified doctors do different tests!

Does the skin test have to be done by the CS or can any doctor do it. I am currently working at a summer camp, the dr there said he could get one in for me and do it and read it as well, and would forward the results on to the CS. Would that be OK? I just don't want to waste any more time, but then I', gonna come back positive coz I had the vaccine as a child, so would I have to go for another set of x-rays?

My husband has also been vaccinated against TB. Would that make the TB skin test come up positive? His chest x-ray is clear.

It's pretty upsetting. All CS's should follow the same protocol and procedures.
