how should i answer question 11 on the I-134 Affidavit of Support?

11. That I [] intend or [] do not intend to make specific contributions to the support of the person(s) named in item 3.

(If you check "intend," indicate the exact nature and duration of the contributions. For example, if you intend to furnishroom and board, state for how long and, if money, state the amount in U.S. dollars and state whether it is to be given in a lumpsum, weekly or monthly, or for how long.

of course i will support him with everything he needs until he gets comfortable here and a work permit. should i just stay that?

thanks!

aes,

Yes - why say anything else, something other than what you do intend to do?

The example form here on VJ answers that question with an "N/A" and an explanation of what this I-134 is being filed for - a K1 visa.

The I-134 is used for many different kinds of filings - not just K1. Not all the questions are exactly applicable. Scroll up and click on example forms and check it out.

Correct!, the I-134 is also used for true short term visitor's visas like business, student, and tourist. The form is used by individuals, and organizations and they can stipulate that they intend to support only for the period of the visitors visa. Question 11 does not apply to K-Visas.

Daisy and Dan,

Why is the question not applicable to the K visas, do you suppose?

Granted, the anecdotal evidence is unanimous that it makes no difference how this question is answered.....
