Hi All,

Does anyone know if DHS officials at JFK ask to see a return ticket for K-1 visa holders? Is it necessary to have a confirmed return ticket at all?

I am actually looking through the prices and find that a One-Way is cheaper in my case !!

Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks in advance.

No, a K-1 is really an immigrant visa so you don't need a return ticket.

Buy whichever one is cheaper.

In our case, a one-way is $380, while a round-trip is $320. Guess which I buying... ;)

Ditto.. No requirement for a one-way or a round-trip.

One thing to consider is that I've heard of some airlines not giving frequent flyer miles for itineraries that weren't completed (both legs not taken), so if that's a concern, you might want to check with the airline.

Also worth mentioning, when I searched for flights, it looked like one-ways were more expensive, until I changed the search to look for first class. I got a one-way first-class ticket for the same price as a round trip economy!! Of course, nobody understands how plane ticket prices work... .

It's only necessary to buy a round-trip if the K-1 holder is planning on going back.

This is a very frequent question. The POE officer in the USA knows that a K-Visa has immigrant intent so will not ask to see or require a return ticket.

Get what ever is less expensive.

When my wife traveled to the USA on a K-1 she only had a one way ticket, NO PROBLEM.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.
