Hi VJ I am looking for some assistant in answering #11 on the I-134 Affidafit of Support.

I wanted to know if it is correct to say:

I X intend to make specific contribution to the support of the person named in item 3

or

should I leave the intend and do not intend boxes unchecked and put below:

N/A ( K1 visa process for permanent residence )

still confused I have the example so do I check any of the boxes for question #11 or just put N/A ( K1 visa process for permanent residence ) on the line below like the example has it.

anyone who has filled this form out before I need your advice.

I am the petitioner.... I'm not giving David a specific 'contribution', as he has income of his own, so I checked that I don't intend....

After some research I found out N/A was the correct answer for #11 in my case as per the example form.

I prefer your initial response, if for no other reason than that it is an accurate statement of what you expect to be the case. It is no less "correct" than answering 'N/A'.

(There's a historical reason why 'N/A' is acceptable, which I expect few current VJers understand.)

Well, if we put N/A I figure we don´t have to check any boxes, right? If it´s N/A it means it´s neither YES or NO. For that reason we´re leaving it blank.

N/A means "Not Applicable". That's not a valid answer in this case. It's a yes or no question, really....

That would be the riskiest, in my opinion. After all, what's the point of a sponsor proving that they have the financial resources to sponsor a visa applicant and then stating bluntly that they are not going to provide any support? That would be a pretty useless sponsor.

'N/A' is, ironically, a much more appropriate response. (See if you can locate a version of I-134 that's more than about 2 years old.)

Is "N/A (K-1 visa process for permanent residence)" an appropriate response for both the petitioner and the co-sponsor (to question 11 on the I-134)?

my fiance has no savings, and will not have any income until they approve his work permit, who knows how long that will take....
