The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) has this exact question. This has been discussed many times on VJ, the search function does work. You are only required a one-way ticket since you are immigrating to the U.S. The round trip ticket is for non-immigrants and tourist to show Immigrations they have a return flight out of the country. Many questions are asked over and over, and this may be one... But no one is forced to answer. Basically for the K-1 you should go with whichever is cheaper, round trip or one way makes no difference.

Correct, this question must get asked at least 30 times a week.

Buy which ever is less, just make sure if you do by a round trip for your SO to come to the states, that the outbound leg originates in the foreign country, the return leg gets canceled if the outbound leg is unused, the return trip needs to be the unused ticket.

You can just get a one way ticket but it sometimes is cheaper to get a round ticket, doesnt make sense I know.

I adore you, I noticed your SO is from Morocco. There have been instances where RAM is saying that it's illegal for them to sell him a one way ticket with a K-1. Tell him that's not a fact and just to go somewhere else. They did that to a friend of mines fiance, where me and my husband didn't have any trouble getting the one way at all.

And why after getting your responses you might also wish to do a little bit of outside investigation to make sure what appears to be sound advice, and may be for many situations, may not work the same, or be appropriate, in yours.

Exactly. I had previously read on VJ that a one-way was fine so we purchased a one-way. I then received a panicky text message from him stating he needed to purchase a return trip ticket or they wouldn't let him get on the plane. He was in the airport trying to board his flight to the USA. We did some fast shuffling and he got the ticket, but it wasn't a lot of fun to panick like that at the last minute. It does seem to vary from country to country.
