Bakers advice needed!

Hello all

While I admit I'm a pretty fair baker of the high-sugar variety of cakes and such, I'm a dismal failure when it comes to sugar-free fare. As Alan is diabetic, I need to start learning pretty darn quick. I quite like Splenda, but I have yet to figure out how to bake with it and achieve edible results. If anyone has any sugar-free dessert recipes they'd like to share, I would be delighted!

The Splenda in the big azzed bag measures like sugar. I think you can just substitute for sugar in any recipe.

Splenda measures the same as sugar, you can use it equally. However, I have noticed that in some recipes it gives it a bit of different taste than regular sugar does. There are also some arguments that Splenda may have some health risks, so you may want to investigate.

If you're looking for alternative sweeteners, check with a local health food store for stevia. Its incredibly sweet so you only need a couple of drops in replacement of sugar. Check this website http://www.holisticmed.com/sweet/ for options.

There are dozens upon dozens of cookbooks made especially for diabetics. Check out your local bookstore.

You beat me to it. Stevia is quite good and if there is even a stevia with fiber...if need be.

Thanks for the replies and links! And Lisa... I didn't even notice the equal pun until you pointed it out! Thing is, I was wondering if any of you had actually road-tested any recipe that worked out well and could share? I've tried numerous sugar-free recipes, but the texture or taste is usually waaaay off. I know sugar helps with texture and browning, etc. I was just pondering if there was something I was missing or any way to get around the problems.
