If you read the instructions (which you can download on the same page you download the I-134 from) it specifically says you don't need it notarized.

'..it is not necessary to sign Form I-134 before a notary, nor to have your signature notarized after you sign it.'

How about reading the form's instructions?

Page 1

Execution of Affidavit

If you are sponsoring more than one alien, you must submit a separate Form I-134 for each alien. You must sign Form I-134 in your full name. (Note: Signing Form I-134 is under penalty of perjury under U.S. law). For this reason, it is not necessary to sign Form I-134 before a notary, nor to have your signature notarized after you sign it.

Read my post above (I have copied again for you below) and click on the link. The instructions are from USCIS themselves.

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD

I have that confusion also when my fiance was preparing my affidavit of support. We used the new form which don`t asks for notarization but we ended up notarizing it. My fiance have it notarized even there is no room in the paper for notarizing it, he brought it to the bank and the official there notarized in he just signed in the bottom and he rewrite the oath and he have it signed and put stamped on it. We want to be secure that our affidavit is notarized even it doesn't say there that it wont need to be notarized. It is better to be over prepared than to be delayed. The bank was very accommodating when he said he want it to be notarized. It is here with me now and I am all set for my coming interview.

I have that thread also but can`t find the link now and some here in the regional forum have it notarized no harm even it is notarized or not. It is good be secure! Good luck and God bless!

I have contacted the USCIS regarding this:

USCIS Web Team-

Regarding the I-134 Instruction Page:

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD

The page states that the I-134 requires:

"To file this form, it needs to be sworn to or affirmed by a USCIS Officer at any USCIS Office, by a notary public, or other official authorized to administer oaths for general purposes. If the sponsor is outside the United States, the affidavit must be sworn to or affirmed by a USCIS Officer or Consular Officer at any U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

Once the form is affirmed, it should be mailed to the same USCIS office where the application was filed."

However the Form instructions state:

Execution of Affidavit:

"...It is not necessary to sign form I-134 in front of a notary, nor have your signature notarized after you sign it"

This is in direct contradiction to the "I-134 Instruction Page". I think that since the I-134 was recently updated the instruction page was simply not updated as well to reflect the new policy (not needing the form notarized). There actually no longer any place on the form for it to be notarized.

Thanks for your attention to this detail!

I am just following the example posted in thsi web site to fill out I-134. Is that good enuf.

Fortunately, Reg. support, my wages are well over the poverty line. Do I need to show that I own a house and my bank balance etc... or just finish it off by just showing wages and bank balance? Dont want to generate too much of paper work and proof etc...

Please advise.

Girish
