If someone files for Emergency AP, say in the morning, how long does it usually take for them to decide on it? We were told we would know that day, but wanted to know how to plan.

thanks!

I did an info pass in San Antonio (Texas)

I was approved the same day but I had to wait like 3 or 4 hours ...to get the emergency AP, and they needed a letter from the Doctor that my mother was sick in order to approve it. As a matter of fact the following day I was getting in the mail the real one we had filed for 2 months before !

So if you need an emergency parole you need to have an emergency and can prove it to them !

Good luck

Somthing my wife and I just thought of is how do we prove relations if it's her grandparents? (her brother died) (They want us to show proof of him being her sister).

For the love of God, are they for real? How does one go about proving that you're related to anyone other than your parents or your children? I'll give it some thought but, for the life of me, I cannot think of anything other than a letter from an immediate relative or some sort of official who knows the two of them like a doctor, a police officer, a lawyer? Perhaps a clergy member or the funeral home director?

Forgive me for the rant but this is the number one reason why I would never recommend a K-1 visa. It is inhumane that, in time of great sorrow, you must prove to an immigration officer that you are in dire personal grief and NEED to go home. That the repercussions will be felt for LIFE? Perhaps a small melt-down in the office would do it? Grrrr. This just burns me up. Is there another office close by where you could, perhaps, find an official with compassion in their heart?

I wish you all the best.

We're going to the Phildelphia office tomorrow, and if this doesn't work we're trekking 90 minutes south to Dover. They didn't have any open infopass slots, but we'll see what happens.

.

Sure have a problem trying to figure out why USCIS cares whether you go home for awhile.

Heck you already went thru a grueling process to qualify to get here.

What's the big deal on a quick trip home?

It's early here in Hawaii and coffee hasn't kicked in yet.

Am I missing something?

Security risk or what?

Ah! Caffine kicked in!

More money for USCIS for doing nothing!

Here's the summary of what happened last week. We got the AP at the Philadelphia office.

When we went to our infopass on Friday morning, the lady said the birth certificate we had wasn't good enough. Long story short, her brother took the perferated part of his birth certificate off and it didn't have his parents names on it. I was showing the lady it had his name on it, and the death certificate had her dad's name on it. Now we needed the birth to show she was her brother's sister(sorry if this is redundant). Anyway, logic would say his name is on both, her father's name is on his death and her birth certificates. Therefore, you can prove they are related. The lady said we had to get a different birth certificate for her brother....hello??? He's dead! The lady also wondered why people don't just file for AP. She hadn't a clue. Anyway, there was a superviser there, and she looked at our stuff and I explained to her what we were trying to prove. She said she'd take the paperwork to the officer. When the super came down, she said we could come back at 2pm to get it, but she couldn't offically say we had it. My wife didn't want to get her hopes up. We booked our tickets and went back to get the AP. When we went back at 2pm, the officer came out, gave us the AP sheets and offered her condolences and said it's always difficult to have to take care of these things at times like this. When we applied for AP, we only asked for one visit and a two-week stay. The paper said multiple visits and gave us a year's AP!!!!!! Now it doesn't matter when the greencard comes.
