Hi, I've been waiting for 9 months for the approval of my I-751 petition to remove conditions. I am wondering if anybody knows if it is ok for me to get financial aid for college? I remember on the affidavit of support that we agreed that we would not take any public financial support, and I am wondering if anybody knows if college financial aid falls under this catagory? Thanks! B)

Depends on financial aid, most does not fall into "Means Tested Benefit" so is not a problem for I-864.

If the financial aid pays for tuition, books, etc it is NOT considered to be means-tested, if the Aid pays you cash for living expenses, this can be considered means-tested.

Typically government financial aid are just loans (with interest), so I honestly doubt that would fall underneath the I-864. The supporting documention for that form does not list anything about financial aid loans, but does list things like welfare programs, etc.

Also, so long as you have your greencard, you should be eligible for the aid (conditions won't matter). Citizens and PR's are eligible. You'll need to fill out a FAFSA (www.fafsa.ed.gov), and the priority deadline is coming up soon for the 09-10 school year.
