Rooky question here. My fiance is living and working in United Arab Emirates. The big question...

Will she need to return to the Philippines in order to get here?

I read another person's fiance will be returning to PI from Hong Kong but am wondering if that is an absolutely necessary step? If so, we will cross that bridge when we come to it, but hoping not!

  • MARCH 14, 2007 WE ARE MARRIED!!!
  • May 5, 2007 Sent AOS/EAD packet
  • May 11, 2007 NOA1 AOS/EAD
  • June 7, 2007 Biometrics appointment
  • June 8, 2007 first post biometrics touch, June 11, next touch...
  • August 1, 2007 AOS Interview! APPROVED!! EAD APPROVED TOO...
  • August 6, 2007 EAD card and Welcome Letter received!
  • August 13, 2007 GREEN CARD received!!! 375 days since mailing the I-129F!

    Remove Conditions:

  • May 1, 2009 first day to file
  • May 9, 2009 mailed I-751 to USCIS CS

I'm not an expert at this, but if she is a citizen of the PI's and not Hong Kong, then it would be the Embassy at the PI's that would have to do here interview.

3/11/06 - 3/26/06 Visited my baby in the PI's

3/29/06 - K1 packet recieved at NSC

6/01/06 - Redirected to CSC

6/14/06 - CSC e-mailed confirmation on the reciept of file

6/23/06 - They they sent the IMBRA RFE

7/03/06 - The emailed that the IMBRA RFE went out on 6/23/06

7/03/06 - I received IMBRA RFE

7/05/06 - Touched

7/06/06 - Delivery Confirmation from the Post Office RFE recieved

7/11/06 - Email notification from CSC that IMBRA RFE Recieved

7/12/06 - Touched (but was to respond to an email that only said 'request recieved and will be processed within 30 days. argh)

7/13/06 - Touched

NOA2 September 11!!!

10/18/06 - Received at Embassy

12/23/06 - Recieved package with interview/medical schedule

01/08/06 - CFO interview/(pre-departure class) Complete

1/11/07 & 1/12/07 Medical complete

02/05/07 - Interview!!!

2/7/07 (2/8/07 manila) - Informed we are approved...3 days after interview.

2/12/07 Visa Received

2/16/07 Baby arrives in US!!!!!

4/14/07 Wedding

4/21/07 Filed AOS

My friend Nate's fiancee was from the Philippines, but working and living in the Philippines. Their package went to the US Embassy in Korea and, subsequently, was processed a lot faster than Manila. She did not have to go back to the PI. Check with "mrc" here on VJ...he's another friend in the same boat.

If she has a resident visa for UAE (which she should have if she's working there) then you she doesn't have to return to the Philippines.

Yes, she has a work visa for United Arab Emirates (not the easiest thing to get!) But it would be good news indeed if she did not need to return to the Philippines! She is a responsible adult, so it would seem silly to have to return home in order to come here... But the process is not always logical!

Let her write a letter or call to the US embassy in UAE if she can apply for the visa without going back to PI. On my case, I inquire first to the US embassy in Tokyo, they answered my letter telling me that my case (K-1 visa) will be transfered to US Embassy in Manila since I am not a Japanese citizen. They can't tell how long but they won't take any responsibility just in case if there will be any lost of documents of my papers upon transferring it from Tokyo to Manila.

umm hmmm That is not True. My wife was a K-1. She is a citizen of the Philippines and she went thru the Hong Kong Consulate for her interview and she received her visa out of Hong Kong.

she does not have to go back to the Philippines for the interview.

umm hmmm That is not True. My wife was a K-1. She is a citizen of the Philippines and she went thru the Hong Kong Consulate for her interview and she received her visa out of Hong Kong.

she does not have to go back to the Philippines for the interview.

That would be awsome! Unless she chooses to move back on her own, having to go back to the Philippines to get here would be quite a burdon... Plus I am hopeful the embassy in Dubai will process our application and be considerably faster than Manila... Hope springs eternal. I-129F should be mailed tomorrow, crossing fingers approval won't take forever!
