Hi.....Guys

I have 2 issues that I am concerned right now.... hope you guys out there can help!!

1..... I am on Removing Condition process right now. My driver license is expired.

I was wondering when I get approved on my Greencard and am eligible to renew my driver license “ Will I need to restart by taking a written and behind-the-wheel tests again” I am in California.

2....... Has anyone had a hard time while holding an invalid ID when you go some places or make a purchase and they ask for a valid Photo ID. Did they reject you? If I bring expired ID and Greencard with notice from Immigration to prove, does it help? would they believe?

I just reserved a comedy show online and they are asking to bring a valid ID….. So I just started to worry if they will kick me out. :o:(

Thanks everyone…. Jessie (F)(L)

If you have your NOA (which extends your GC - ability to live and work in US), you *should* be able to renew your DL. This depends in part what state you live in and how helpful/knowledgeable the DMV staff are that day.

There's been many threads about this, you might try a search and see if you can find someone's experience in the same state as you.

Hope this helps a bit,

AOS: ND - June 5 2006 | RFE - June 15 2006 | FP Notice - June 30 (Rescheduled to Sept 16) | AP ND - August 14 2006| Walk-in FP - Sept 5 (FP cleared next day!) | Interview - Sept 8 2006 (Approved!) | Welcome Letter - Sept 13 | EAD received - Sept 19 (kinda moot since I'm waiting for GC) | GC received - Sept 23 2006 - Woohoo!!

I-751: 06/10/08 Mailed package to VSC direct (per memo instructions) not TSC. The wait begins... | 06/11/08 Package received at VSC (12.12pm) | 06/19/08 Check cashed | 06/20/08 Received NOA1 in the mail - ND is 06/17/08 | 07/10/08 Received Biometrics Appt Letter - ND is 7/7/08 | 07/22/08 Biometrics (had to do ink & paper also...) | 07/22/08 Touched | 07/23/08 Touched | 02/11/09 Transferred to CSC (got email)... | 02/12/09 Touched | 02/20/09 Touched (but no email) | 03/24/09 Approval letter arrives in the mail! Approval date is 3/18/09 from VSC | 04/03/09 Received card, postmarked 3/31 from CSC

N-400: 06/11/09 Mailed to Lewisville Lockbox | 06/12/09 Package received at Lockbox and signed for at 1.31pm | 06/18/09 Check Cashed | 06/19/09 NOA, PD 06/12/09 | 07/06/09 Biometrics letter received, ND is 07/02/09 | 07/24/09 Biometrics appointment | 08/06/09 IL received, ND 08/03/09 | Interview 09/14/09 at 9.30am (approved!) | Oath 10/21/09 | USC

Filed: Country: Jamaica
Timeline

When did the DL expire? If before you filed for your 10 year Green Card, I say you are SOL until you get the green card. Then, you would probably have to retake the testing process.

If the DL expired with the Green Card, as is my husband's case, they all you need is to take the expired DL, the expired GC, and whatever other paperwork/documentations your state's DMV requires and renew.

The ID part.......if you take the GC, they probably won't even look at the expiration date.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

According to the CA DMV website, a Notice of Action is proof of legal presence: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/dl/dl_info.htm#BDLP.

Take your old driver's license, expired green card and NOA1 that extends your green card validity to the DMV.

Good luck!

Timeline for Naturalization:

Day 1: Application delivered to AZ

Timeline for Removing Conditions:

Green card received 117 days after application was delivered to USCIS

Timeline for AOS:

Green card received 120 days after application was delivered to USCIS
