Hi Everybody , i have a question , me and my son applied on the 20.January 2009 for our 10 year GC at the VSC , i came here on K1 and my son with me on K2 , i got my extension Letter from VSC a few day's after we send the Application in and i got my Biometrics apointment 2 weeks later wich i have already done , but my son didn't recieved anything no extension letter no biometrics apointment nothing , not like it was before when we aplied for the 2 year conditional GC , i also need to mention that my son is 13 years old and will turn 14 at the end of March 2009 , so i got worried and Hubby called the number that was on the Biometrics apointment to find out whats going on with my son's status , the man on the phone wasn't sure so he went to ask his supervisor , then he came back and told us that since my son is 13 he don't need another biometrics they will just take the old fingerprints and picture of him , we told him that he is turning 14 next month and he said we don't have to worry about this they already send all our information out to the print office and he checked again on my name and adress and case number and told us that our case is about to close and we are good to go .

I was very relieved about that , but then i was just checking on my case when i found this at the USCIS website : If you have reached your 14th birthday since the date your card was issued, your payment is the biometrics fee of $80 is required. The base application fee is not required if you file the Form I-90 within 30 days after your 14th birthday. Total filing fee = $80.

Under the section replacing GC , so what should i do now wait and see when the GC comes in what date it was issued after or before his 14. birthday or call them again ? somebody here who had the same or similar experience ? any answer or information Apriciated . thanks in advance ,

Your case is similar to ours inasmuch as my wife's daughter did not receive anything for a long time. My wife received her 1 yr extension, and then the Bio appointment letter. Our daughter just received her 1 yr extension. Your son should receive his papers shortly.

I am confused as to why you may need to fill out a I-90. The instructions say:

If you are filing because:

• Your card was valid for 10 years and is expiring or has expired

• Your card was lost, stolen or destroyed;

• Your card is mutilated;

• Your name or other biographic information has changed since the card was issued;

• You have taken up Commuter status;

• You were a Commuter and am now taking up residence in the U.S.;

• Your status has been automatically converted to permanent resident;

• You have an old edition of the card;

Then your payment is the base application fee is $290 plus the biometrics fee of $80. Total filing fee = $370.

If you have reached your 14th birthday since the date your card was issued, your payment is the biometrics fee of $80 is required. The base application fee is not required if you file the Form I-90 within 30 days after your 14th birthday. Total filing fee = $80.

I think the bold part refers to the information above it. The I-90 is for a replacement card. If your son gets his card and it is correct, it doesn't matter what age he is.

Am I confused?

The USCIS representative told you your case was about to close. I presume you filed in Vermont. You just filed Jan 20, 2009. That would be great. You would be breaking ground since most of the others have had to wait almost a year. I hope they are speeding up. California is getting very fast.

Good luck in this journey.

This is very confusing :angry: , i guess i will just wait if they issue the card without saying anything about replacing it , then i will just leave it like that , still waiting for the extension letter for my son hope i will get atleast that , and yes we had to file at Vermont , because we moved last year summer from Virginia to Louisiana , i just hope what that man on the phone told us is true about my case that would be awsome .

Filed: K-1 Visa Country: Jamaica
Timeline

I filed at Vsc in December also.I did my biometrics in January, but like you I did not receive Noa for my children (K2)s. I called them at the end of Januar,y and they sent us both Noas and biometrics for my Kids. Biometrics were done last week the 02/18/09.My children are ages 5 and 13.The CSR at VSC was very polite and I was on the line for a while until she came and told me that I would receive the documents within a week's time. They arrived in less than a week. I would call them .I hope this information is helful.
