My fiancee had her interview the other day and she told them that we met through her sister. They proceeded to take her to some kind of anti fraud unit department. The interviewed her over 4 times or so. Finally, the second day she was interviewed but was told that they're not the ones who approve the visa. So now I'm really confused. Where do we go from here? I mean, we have a solid relationship and it's definitely not based on fraud. I'm a little worried as to this whole process now? How long will it take? What does it encompass? Can someone please share some insights with me....

Thanks!

Anthony

WE TO WENT THROUGH THE F.P.U. INTERVIEW. WE GOT THE VISA TWO MONTHS SEVENTEEN DAYS LATER. THE ONLY INFO THEY WILL GIVE IS IT IS WITH THE OTHER UNIT. I HAD MY CONGRESSMAN INVOLVED EVER SINCE THE USCIS STAGE. HE WAS UNABLE TO HELP HERE. I CALLED THE EMBASSY SO OFTEN THAT LORRAINE BEGAN TO RECOGNIZE MY VOICE.

I SENT SEVERAL PACKAGES OF ADDITIONAL EVIDENCE. THEY DID NOT REQUEST, BUT I WAS THINKING OF ALL THAT I COULD DO. IF POSSIBLE YOU MAY CONSIDER ANOTHER VISIT. WE HAD WAY MORE THAN ENOUGH INITIAL EVIDENCE. I HAD SPENT OVER TWO MONTHS THERE ON TWO OCCASIONS. MAYBE RANDOM SELECTION, CAN'T SAY THOUGH....

GOOD LUCK

I'm sorry I don't know what happened. Is there a way to erase the multiposts?

A Mod with the power to delete, or merge them may catch the 2 in the embassy/consulate form and merge them or delete one.

This location is another appropriate location when asking specifically for problems with the specific embassy (Manila), some post same question in the general and regional forums, to get answered from the overall community and from ones familiar with the specific embassy.

hi,there was a similar case before in VJ about the girl who met her husband through her aunt and she was taken to the Visa Fraud Unit. I don't know if she already receive her visa. as long as you can prove that you have a solid relationship then you have nothing to worry. i met my then fiance (now my husband) through my cousin but i was never questioned about it during the interview. maybe because we have been dating for over 3 years that time and that we are both filipinos. good luck and God bless you

Well when I try to imagine what this Visa Fraud Unit office looks like, I start imagining an office with maybe 2 desks, and some old donuts sitting on a table somewhere. A guy in the back taking his midday nap, Meanwhile some bored VFU agents eating cheez doodles.... are at their desks watching a small TV in a corner of the office. One of them yawns and stretches....

I am guessing that someone has to go to the VFU office? Right? So every now and then someone gets made an example. I can imagine they need work....

Wow, almost 3 months. How come they selected your fiancee for the FPU? Did you guys state having met through someone else as well? Well, it's pretty tough for me to make it there again especially because of my line of work, it's hard to get vacation time. I just don't know why they make it so hard to be with the one you love :-(

The only thing i can guess is there was something in the packet or said in the interview that sent up a red flag, that caused them to contact the visa fraud unit and do extra interviews, I imagine they are going to do some more background checks and what ever else is protcol in these matters.

Well the only thing she said is that her sister introduced us and I guess that raised the flag. So I guess obviously that's the wrong thing to say at the interview.

Not fiancee, my wife. We have an age difference. I was working with my brother-inlaw.I met her mom and dad before I met her. All are red flags. However, our love is true.I had already set the date that I was leaving the U.S. to live with her...

If you have a bona fide reationship, then you should be fine.

Probably because you meet thru a relative, and something else in your packet flagged you for the Fraud Unit.

Yeah I guess so... but we truly have a true relationship.. I mean, people meet they life partners in many different ways including through friends or family members. My brother himself met his wife through her sister. So I don't understand the big deal over that? Anyway, thanks for your comments! I noticed you're in Texas too, what part? Take care and congrats on your relationship!
