My US citizen anak can't call mom's an ALIEN anymore!

My wife, daughter and I flew [$500 for RT] to Oahu yesterday and my wife aced the interview and civics test.

My wife said the IO was nice. After seeing the 3 ream high stack [about 10" high] of ALL our paperwork from the very beginning of the process she asked my wife if she was in removal proceeding because there was so much paperwork.

Surprised me as one of the first question she asked my wife was how we had met!

She then asked what I did for a living and my wife showed her my website. I sell some of my "artwork" online. Pictures of my wife and anak are on there also.

She didn't ask to see even one document my wife had brought with her.

The IO did look a liitle at the stack of our of previously submitted paperwork.

I've no idea how much she reviewed them before the interview.

Interview and test took about 15 minutes after a 45 minute wait.

Oath ceremony lasted about 30 minutes. We were all allowed to attend the ceremony

After 4 years of a sometimes stressful and costly process we are a bit disappointed as the oath ceremony was held, in the afternoon, in the lobby , no AC, with a speaker mostly talking about the NAACP! There were 22 people taking the oath.

I guess they don't realize what we ALL have to go thru to get to the US Citizenship stage. The naturalization paper is a piece of #######. They just glued my wifes picture on it. My grammar school diploma is a 1000 times better.

It's been a LONG sometimes difficult trip.

I can be myself again and NOT kiss USCIS personnels butte. I'd like to find one USCIS missinfo operator in a dark alley that treated me like sh!t on the phone. I called 2 times in 1 day and he told me he was making a note on my case. That was years ago and I didn't realize how worthless the service was.

I want to thank all you guys who have helped us thruout the immigration process.

Yeah I know a LOT about the process but not everything and I did require help from others just like everyone else.

Ingat and aloha.

Dakine- Congratulations for your wife passing her interview and becoming a US Citizen recently too. And thanks for sharing that experience here on vj....:star: Good luck with the rest of her journey as a US Citizen and good luck in getting her US Passport soon too.

Ant

P.S. Wow....$500 to get to your local office....sounds expensive, indeed!

P.P.S. Lol..Your wife is not an alien anymore...But she still has the A# for the rest of her life...lol......I agree too, that the naturalization certificate is very amatuer-ish...And definitely not worth the $675 in terms of quality....Oh well, it's a legal document, nevertheless.....

P.P.P.S. Interesting too, that you sell artwork online..If you don't mind me asking, what type of artwork do you do? (my husband does artwork too)

Dakine,

Are you Oahu-based? Although I'm still a bit away from being interviewed, I am wondering about the possibility of same-day oath for those who live in Honolulu.

Congratulations!

Nope, outer islands. My wife said some of the people taking the test and oath were from Oahu also.

Congratulations to the new U.S. citizen!

Dakine, you have elaborated the cliche "good riddance."

FAE :luv:

Nah just warming up.

I'm divorcing my now USC filipina wife and after I pay to have her sister get an annulment in PI I'll marry my ex sister in law and bring her and her 2 kids on a CR-1/CR-2 ..

After we spend 3 years and she gets her USC I'll divorce her and she can remarry her ex and petition him also. At that time I'll remarry my first ex, her sister, and we'll all live happily ever after!!! :bonk::dance:

If you believe this you are :bonk::blink:
