well, first of all, it's been a long long time i posted here... well, i finally got my shotgun and discover a new passion. here's my new baby named jimbo-cletus... a Mossberg 835 ulti-mag 12ga

Shotgun-1.jpg

well first of all, take a look at the state laws and regulations about firearms cause some state won't let legal resident buy a gun, then second, when it's time to fill the paperwork to register the gun at the ATF ( this is done at the gun dealer ), be sure to have in hand ; your SSN, permanent resident card, driver licence and three months of proof of residence... could be utility bills, rent lease with a letter of statement from your landlord no P.O. box... no pay stubs, bank and credit cards statements for some reasons ( wich i found it stupid ) they stopped accepting it

after then, you're ready to blow up stuff or shoot some clay pigeons... hours and hours of fun guarantee trust me

Or just buy a used one from the classifieds...no fuss, no muss.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

LPR can own rifles in most states, and handguns, also. check your state for specific limitations and regulations.

LPR should be careful with firearms. Americans are becoming sensitive to the issue of foreigners with firearms, so you may have negative experiences when attempting to buy or use. Be especially careful at public ranges to read and follow posted regulations and act in a mature manner. remember that firearms projectiles may travel up to 3 miles (depending on type/cartridge/gun combination) and be lethal at long range, so keeping your fire in the embankment behind the targets is very important.

LPR can and have been deported for firearms violations, sometimes without knowledge that they were even in violation. this is serious business, and a gun owner should know the applicable laws. worse yet, accidents happen in which lives can be lost. treating every gun as though it were loaded, getting safety training (hunter safety training is widely available and nearly free), and storing guns safely are all part of responsible firearms ownership. storing firearms safely means limiting access to yourself and those under your direct supervision. it can also mean denying access to some acquaintances who are not responsible enough to be safe.

these words from a dyed in the wool gun nut, who has been federally liscensed for many years, has owned nearly 500 firearms, has built over 100 firearms of all types, buys and sells them for fun, and votes republican, generally. joining the gun culture doesn't mean you have to vote republican, but it does mean you are taking everybody's life into your own hands, so you should think like a republican, and realise that life is earned, and precious for that effort.

few countries in the world have the firearms ownership freedom we Americans take for granted. few people from these countries are really ready for firearms ownership. most will need some education in regard to the relevant laws and social customs. the best way to get this kind of information is to find internet communities in which it is discussed, and local groups to join in these forums.

this forum is a bit uptight, but widely read, and generally conservative:

http://www.thehighroad.org/index.php

too many SHTF and "what if i had to use my new gun in self defense" types on it for my taste.

America is really a much safer place than some posts on this forum make it out to be.

regarding what "justashooter" posted, i'm 100% with you, my gun is safely store at home, unloaded with a lock at the trigger and the safe button at ON... the same thing apply when i have it in my car trunk when i got to the rangeplus every time i manipulate it, i check if it's unloaded even if i know it is... there's a sentence that it keep in mind... guns are always loaded even without any ammo in that means you noeed to manipulate with extreme caution... with this precautions, i'll have more fun challenging myself to do better at the range each and every time i go than having someone's injury or death on the conscience...

good to have you on our side, my friend. we are the right arm and the clenched fist of America. we ensure that the second amendment guarantees the first amendment, and all others that make America such a special place to be. we are the rifle behind every blade of grass that Yamamoto warned the emperor of japan about when he considered invading America.

at the end of the day, tough, a gun is only a tool. it is the man behind it that matters. it seems you are the right kind of man. i posted my comments in your thread because i wanted to make sure that you make no innocent mistakes that could jeopardise your status, and thereby access to your newfound love.

if kansas was any closer to pennsylvania, i would buy you a beer and invite you to play with my toys. you would have very good time with many kalashnikovs and all kind other fun stuff.

oh yes, rifles behind every blade of grass make America a VERY special place to be :D :D

I just want to know where I can register my bazookas... guess I'll have to hide them behind every tree trunk; my husband does insist upon mowing the lawn so short :D

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

well, pretty, you can get a bazooka, but you'll have to register it as a "destructive device" and pay a $200 tax on it. then you will have to do the same thing with every round of live ammunition you have, just like the rest of us. it has been this way since 1934. the details can be found on the ATF website. make a flamethrower instead. they are not regulated. i have one that shoots 5 gallons of deisel in 60 seconds up to 60 yards, or so. built it as a gag a few years ago, and can't get anybody else to strap it on. always wear a 45 when i use it just in case something goes wrong, cause i can't afford a nomex suit.

thank the founding fathers that you have a right to post your opinion on the internet, and that i have the right to guarrantee your right is respected by our government and every government around this globe. living in china for 4 years, i can tell you first hand what it is like to live in a country where the people have no rights.

in this country houses are searched without warrant, and people arrested after such searches are convicted without legal counsel by a tribunal. this after being forced to sign confessions under the duress of extreme physical cruelty. they are then executed and their property seized to pay for their 30 days incarceration from arrest to execution. if their family complains about the process and result, they are taken to the police station and beaten until they agree to fall into line. this is what happens after their neighbors rat them out for having two pot plants.

seriously. it has happened recently in the city in which i live. it's that illegal, and a local developer who is well connected wanted the land the guy had hereditary rights of use to. i'm not arguing for legitimazation of marijuana, but the way it is dealt with here seems a bit extreme. and you know what? the army and the police have all of the guns, so the people can't do jack when it happens. just like they couldn't do jack when the japanese occupied luoyang (800 miles from the coast) in 1937, except work in the labour camps and watch their daughters trucked off to work as "comfort women". not many of those daughters came home. most were used for bayonette practice after they were raped for weeks and beaten for pleasure. such is the life of a slave.

slaves have no rights. you have been given them, and yet appear ungrateful. my family has fought for these rights in wars dating back to the revolution, and continues to serve to this day in active deployment. i cannot honor those who served and negate the basis of the nation for which they served and died. a man named erasmus holtzappffel immigrated to America in 1736 as a child, settling with his family in philadelphia. he had 6 sons, three of which served in the war of independence. one of them was my grandfather, 5 generations removed.

in case you have forgotten what your rights are, i will summarise them below, and indicate what is available to people in the country in which i now work for an inordinately egregious sum of money (and believe me, i wouldn't work here for a nickle less). they are called "the ten amendments to the constitution", or "bill of rights", and upon these are built all others, including the one that gives you the right to vote (BTW, you can't do that in china, either).

1.) freedom of religion and speech, or right to complain abot the government and ask it to change? not in china, or most of the countries people on this board are importing spouses from.

2.) right to keep and bear arms? not in most of the rest of the world.

3.) right to refuse government troops occupying your house? not in most of the rest of the world.

4.) right to be secure from search or seizure of your person, property, etc? not in most of the rest of the world.

5.) right to a grand jury of peers? to not incriminate yourself or twice be tried for the same crime? to due process under law, or to compensation for public condemnation of property? not in most of the rest of the world.

6.) right to a public and speedy trial with a jury of peers? to confront your accusers and subpoena witnesses and have a lawyer? not in most of the rest of the world.

7.) right to jury trial in civil suits? not in most of the rest of the world.

8.) right to a reasonable bail and protection from excessive fines and cruel and unusual punishments? not in most of the rest of the world.

9.) acknowledgement that enumerated rights do not deny those unspoken in the text. no rights here, spoken, or unspoken.

10.) acknowledgement of the limit of governmental rights. no limit on the government here.

Hubby took me to the NRA range on a weekly basis when I arrived in the US, until I was up to speed, and then I spent weeks learning how to store firearms safely, how to clean them, etc etc. I then took classes with one of the NRA instructors who taught me stance, speed, and better accuracy. Rifles are a bit heavy for me but I'm loving the glock :D
