My partner is currently completing medical training on a J1 visa and resident of Turkey. They have a 2 year home requirement upon completion of training, but based on what I read there is an option to apply for waiver with a no objection statement from their home country. I am curious to hear if anyone has experience with this process and specifically with Turkey. Is this a feasible option to pursue for adjustment of status? The hope would be that I can petition for green card after marriage, but my understanding is that they would still need to complete home requirement without a waiver when going through this process. Any advice and experience would be much appreciated.

Hope everyone is doing well.
I'm quite sure I filed form AR-11 in June this year online via the myUSCIS portal after my husband and I moved but I'm wondering if there is any way to check its status because nothing is showing up on the portal (no history, nothing) so I am slightly concerned about it. (Our I-485 and EAD cases are both closed and I received my 2 year conditional GC in May.)

And also an oversight - my husband did not file the I-865 at that time because we were under the mistaken impression that just my filing the AR-11 would suffice. We had informed the IO at our GC interview that we were moving and she had told us about the AR-11 but we rather naively assumed that my husband as the main sponsor of my I-864 didn't have to do anything. Would we be able to file the I-865 ASAP? Or is there another process we have to undergo since we are tardy on that form? We have a joint sponsor but they are still residing at the same address, so that doesn't affect them, I'm sure.

Hi there everyone!

We got our RFE letter in the mail today and it's asking us to "submit a passport for proof of citizenship for you and your beneficiary".

Just to make sure we're gonna do everything right, this is just to provide a scan/picture of the information page of the passport, right? I was thinking just because of the wording that we could submit both our passports just be sure, even though it doesn't seem like the beneficiary's is required? Just to make sure we're not gonna get denied.

It's a little bit scary, especially since we sent in the petitioner's birth certificate but oh well, these things happen!

I want to revisit a VJ topic "Vietnam Exit Visa - Child Born in VN w/USC" from the year 2015. My wife is thinking about having a baby in Vietnam. In my opinion I feel she is complicating the birth of an U.S. newborn in terms of visa and registering the birth. She wants to have the baby near her family in Vietnam since my side of the family in the U.S. won't be very reliable when comes to helping with the newborn when needed which I totally understand.

Based on this post in 2015, the recommended approach is Vietnamese citizenship and passport to exit then CBRA to enter U.S. with US Passport. Another option is a exit stamp with a US a passport. Since 2015, I am sure new Vietnamese immigration laws are in effect and old one got phased out so if this approach or new approach is still recommended for a newborn.

If anyone could share their recent experiences with the process of registering a newborn and exiting Vietnam and entering U.S. of an USC that would be great.
