PSA: If entering the USA 2 years after marriage, kindly remind the immigration officer of this
spicynujac posted a topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures,
When we last entered the US, our immigration officer said "Oh, hmm I wonder if I could go ahead and change you an IR-1." The agent right next to him said "Yes, you can do that" and he acted surprised. His comments made it pretty clear he was going to erroneously issue us a CR-1 and he seemed to not even know he could change the visa status until his coworker advised him (THANK GOODNESS she overheard!). I don't know how onerous the process is to correct such an oversight but I'm glad we didn't have to find out!
Just wanted to pass this along in the hopes it saves someone from any problems with the wrong stamp being placed in the passport, as I've read about here before.... I would kindly remind the officer "We married >2 years ago. We can enter with an IR-1 visa now right?"- 20 replies
Traveled to Canada for 20 days after entering the U.S. on a K-1 visa (June 1–22). Seeking reentry under Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR).
Dovahkiinali0605 posted a topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures,
I entered the U.S. on a K-1 visa on June 1st and left for Canada on June 2nd, remaining here for 20 days. I am now attempting to return to the U.S. through Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ) using Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR). My K-1 visa is expired, but my I-94 is still valid. Am I ok?-

Wrong USCIS application form filed by my lawyer!
narayan333 posted a topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports,
Hello, so my wife came in k-1 visa to USA and we got married and all. We filled for work permit and green card together but while doing that my lawyer filed for I-130 no idea why. Will that application make my process for work permit and green card slow? If so how do I withdrawal that application? My lawyer isn’t helpful at all. I need some help…-

Seeking advice for Thai/US couple - What US visa path to take?
PeachyTocker posted a topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures,
My gf and I live in Thailand but spend 2-4months in the US per year. Once/if we have children age 5+, the time split would become vice versa. We have no plans to live full-time in the United States in the next 5 years, but I visit my family and friends 2-3x per year for 2-3 weeks at a time. I would love it if she can join me for those trips and experience that part of my life. What options do we have -- US visa wise, maybe a tourist or fiance visa later? Other?

Abandoned AOS and now regret it
Mariammaria posted a topic in Adjustment of Status Case Filing and Progress Reports,
Please be nice, I know I made a mistake... But got my K1 approved and arrived in the US June 25, 2024 and applied for AOS February 25, 2025 -- then left the US (abandoned my AOS). Will I be banned for re-entry to the US -- even under a spouse visa?-

US Citizen with Foreign Fiancé: When and How to Get Married?
gandalf1989 posted a topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures,
I'm currently living and working in the United States. My fiancé currently lives in Japan. We have been dating for about 6 months, and we have met in person several times, but we are not yet married.
My fiancé will be visiting me in the United States on a tourist visa some time in March or April and staying for about 3 months. I want to file for a fiance/spouse visa asap -- what's next?-

1 RepliesWhen you look at a green wall, you see beauty.
A stunning curtain of leaves.
A living painting.
A breath of nature where you least expect it.But behind that beauty lies a story.
A structure of layers each one essential, each one quietly doing its part like the hidden heartbeat of a living organism.Let s walk through these layers together, one by one, and feel the emotion behind the architecture that brings green walls to life.
1. The Structural Support Layer The Backbone of Strength
Every green wall begins with support.
This layer is the wall s silent strength the foundation that holds everything together.
Just like people, plants also need something reliable to lean on.Steel frames, panels, or modular grids provide the stability to carry plant weight, water, and soil.
Without this backbone, nothing else can stand. It s the unseen hero behind every thriving leaf.
2. The Waterproofing Layer The Silent Protector
Before any greenery touches the surface, a waterproof membrane is added.
Why?
Because water is beautiful for plants but dangerous for walls.
This layer protects the building from moisture, rot, and damage.
It s like an umbrella that never closes always shielding, always guarding.Invisible, but absolutely essential.
3. The Root Barrier The Guardian Against Intrusion
Roots are determined they push, climb, and search for comfort.
But without guidance, they can invade the building surface. This layer gently tells the roots,
Grow, but grow in the right direction. It protects the structure while allowing the plants the freedom to thrive.
4. The Drainage Layer The Breath of Balance
Water gives life, but too much water suffocates it.
The drainage layer carries away excess water, ensuring the wall never becomes waterlogged.
It creates balance just enough water, just enough dryness.Think of it as the green wall s own breathing system, maintaining harmony from within.
5. The Filter Layer The Quiet Keeper of Purity
Placed right above the drainage, this layer prevents soil or substrate from leaking downward.
It keeps the system clean, unclogged, and functioning smoothly.
It s the gentle guardian that preserves purity and order, letting every component do its job.
6. The Growing Medium The Soul of the Wall
This is where the magic happens.
The growing medium whether soil, felt, fiber, or hydroponic foam is the home of the plants.
It nourishes, cradles, and anchors them.It s the soul of the entire structure.
This layer represents love, care, and nourishment everything a living being needs to flourish.
7. The Vegetation Layer The Face of Beauty
Finally the part we all see.
The plants.
The stars.
The breathtaking tapestry of greens, textures, and flowers. This layer is emotion itself:
-
the way leaves dance when touched by sunlight
-
the gentle cascade of vines
-
the calming shades of green
-
the little blooms that smile at anyone passing by
This is the layer that heals hearts, reduces stress, and brings life into dead spaces.
A green wall might stand tall because of its structure
but it touches souls because of its vegetation.
A Green Wall Is More Than Architecture It s a Feeling
Each layer plays a role.
Each layer works in silence.
Each layer contributes to a living masterpiece.Together, they create a green wall that isn t just seen
It s felt.A reminder that with the right foundation, protection, balance, and care anything can grow beautifully even on a wall.

1 RepliesHello wonderful forum friends, me again.
I'm hoping someone can help as my timeline is getting narrower and I'm starting to panic!!
So I'm in the US, I'm here on my K1, I'm married to my wonderful husband. I've sent my i485 (work permit and travel permit) in.
Here are my dates for clarity.
Entered the US 15 Sept 25
Married 10 Oct 25
Posted forms received at PO box for USCIS 11 Nov 25.
My question is how long roughly does it take to receive the NOA1 for the I485 as my K1 expires on 13th December!!!
I also included the form with my phone number and email address so they can notify me electronically that they have received my paperwork. But to date as of 23 November I've heard nothing.
Further to this I had no clue I had an A number so left all my forms blank of it. Then I saw it on our I129F approval ( well I think it is as it's a number with an A at the front above my name - but it doesn't actually state what it is and it was on the notice that was posted to my husband so I had never actually physically seen this piece of paper before) I only saw after is posted the forms!!
Please help, I'm concerned I'm going to have to go back to the UK. My husband and I have been working really hard on setting up our lives together here. I feel very anxious.
Thank you
Lesley

1 RepliesHey Visa Journey!!
So, long story short I m a U.S citizen and my mom from Canada would like me to file for to get her Green Card. Now my question is she is already here in the U.S on an extended trip for a few months. Could we do the (I-130) petition and AOS forms here so she doesn t have to go back? Or would it be best for her to return to Canada and wait to be interviewed at the consulate in Canada? From research I ve seen the process is faster when filing for parents who are already in the USA. Answers are much appreciated!!

2 RepliesHi everyone,
I know it is totally ok to file AOS after I-94 is expired. Recently, there were people who were arrested at their green card interview. I heard K1 visa holder among them. We filed the I-485 two weeks after I-94 expired. We are worried. I also heard people were detained while waiting for their green card interview. This is really frightening for people who come to this country with a k1 visa!
