PSA: If entering the USA 2 years after marriage, kindly remind the immigration officer of this
When we last entered the US, our immigration officer said "Oh, hmm I wonder if I could go ahead and change you an IR-1."  The agent right next to him said "Yes, you can do that" and he acted surprised. His comments made it pretty clear he was going to erroneously issue us a CR-1 and he seemed to not even know he could change the visa status until his coworker advised him (THANK GOODNESS she overheard!).  I don't know how onerous the process is to correct such an oversight but I'm glad we didn't have to find out!

Just wanted to pass this along in the hopes it saves someone from any problems with the wrong stamp being placed in the passport, as I've read about here before....  I would kindly remind the officer "We married >2 years ago.  We can enter with an IR-1 visa now right?"

Traveled to Canada for 20 days after entering the U.S. on a K-1 visa (June 1–22). Seeking reentry under Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR).
I entered the U.S. on a K-1 visa on June 1st and left for Canada on June 2nd, remaining here for 20 days. I am now attempting to return to the U.S. through Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ) using Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR). My K-1 visa is expired, but my I-94 is still valid. Am I ok?

Wrong USCIS application form filed by my lawyer!
Hello, so my wife came in k-1 visa to USA and we got married and all. We filled for work permit and green card together but while doing that my lawyer filed for I-130 no idea why. Will that application make my process for work permit and green card slow? If so how do I withdrawal that application? My lawyer isn’t helpful at all. I need some help…

Seeking advice for Thai/US couple - What US visa path to take?
My gf and I live in Thailand but spend 2-4months in the US per year. Once/if we have children age 5+, the time split would become vice versa. We have no plans to live full-time in the United States in the next 5 years, but I visit my family and friends 2-3x per year for 2-3 weeks at a time. I would love it if she can join me for those trips and experience that part of my life. What options do we have -- US visa wise, maybe a tourist or fiance visa later? Other?

Abandoned AOS and now regret it
Please be nice, I know I made a mistake... But got my K1 approved and arrived in the US June 25, 2024 and applied for AOS February 25, 2025 -- then left the US (abandoned my AOS). Will I be banned for re-entry to the US -- even under a spouse visa?

US Citizen with Foreign Fiancé: When and How to Get Married?
I'm currently living and working in the United States. My fiancé currently lives in Japan. We have been dating for about 6 months, and we have met in person several times, but we are not yet married.
My fiancé will be visiting me in the United States on a tourist visa some time in March or April and staying for about 3 months. I want to file for a fiance/spouse visa asap -- what's next?

    Hello,

I am currently preparing Form I-134 for my fianc s upcoming K-1 visa interview in Jamaica and would appreciate your guidance regarding financial eligibility.

My household size is three, including myself, my minor child, and my fianc . On my 2025 tax return, my adjusted gross income (AGI) was $23,696, which I understand may be below the recommended threshold for a household of this size. However, this figure does not reflect my current earning capacity.

I currently hold two positions. My primary job provides an annual salary of $85,000, and my secondary job pays $33 per hour at approximately 40 hours per week. I began my primary position mid-year in 2025 following maternity leave after the birth of my child in late 2024, which contributed to the lower reported AGI.

As of February 2026, I have been out of work due to a job-related injury and am currently receiving workers compensation benefits. I remain employed and expect to return to work once medically cleared.

Given these circumstances, could you advise on the best way to demonstrate sufficient financial support for purposes of the I-134, particularly when prior tax returns do not accurately reflect current income? Additionally, please let me know what supporting documentation you would recommend submitting in this situation.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

I filed I-130 for my son under F2A category.

    Priority Date: April 09, 2024

    Country: India

    Status: I-130 pending

    I would like to know:

    - Current I-130 approval timelines for F2A India

    - Chances of CSPA protection

    - Expected timeline for NVC & interview

    - would like know whether my petition being processed under F2a or F2b category since my son was below 21 years/Single on filing date and he is still single now but over 21 years age on today

Anyone with similar PD, please share your updates.

N400 interview scheduled - but no mention/annotation of pending i751 application on the notice

Hello Visajourney, a few days ago I received my interview notice for my N400 application. It does not annotate my pending i751 application though. Does this mean I won't get a combo interview?

I would prefer a combo interview and assumed they knew about both applications and would combine them without me asking.. Should I get ahead of any potential issues and upload a letter requesting a combo interview including the i751 extension letter? My N400 was filed online by me and the i751 application was submitted by an attorney.

Or is my only option to go to the N400 interview on April 27 and see what happens?

    Any advice appreciated!

Good Afternoon all... Can anybody point me in the right direction... I am a New Yorker (US citizen) I  filed my I-130 for my  Dominican spouse in Dec. 2025. We are now expecting. How does this change my application... Or what changes do I need to make/take. The baby is due around November 2026.  By then my wife will probably still be waiting for the  NVC interview. How would I then add a child to my application if I already sent it in? Can I at all get my child a US Passport or because they will be born abroad have the citizenship of that country DR. Please be easy with your responses and not rude. This is a learning process for me.

Christina! We received our appointment notification email today! Our appointment was scheduled for April 9th 2026. We are very excited. We received the "you've got mail" ding while we were still in bed. I hope you received an email as well. If not, stay hopeful that it could arrive this week!

Hello @RSJRGT: You made a post on the thread for appointments in Ciudad Juarez recently. I just noticed that many people with DQ dates in February and march are announcing online that they received appointment notifications in the past 2 days. I wanted to check if you have received any e-mails from NVC.
