Community SpotlightDV Lottery of K1 Visa - Can I file for both?
Petrisaint Mpaka posted a topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures,
I applied for the DV lottery 2025 and hope to be selected this year. My fiancé and I discovered that there is a fiancé visa for the USA. Do you think if we apply for the K1 visa but are selected for the DV lottery that we can stop the fiancé visa process? What are the timelines and options here :)?-

Confused about steps after marriage
SP1988 posted a topic in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas,
My fiancee arrived last month on K1 fiance visa and we got married yesterday. It seems from what I have seen online that I made a mistake by not getting SSN prior to marriage? I am going to the SSN office on Monday to gather more information... also worried about employment authorization and travel authorization(s). Thanks for any insights!-

Tourist visa cancelled by CBP agent. Can we still get a CR1 or K1 Visa?
yotajeeper posted a topic in What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration,
Upon my gf's most recent arrival, her tourist visa was cancelled at the airport due to her frequent visits last year and suspicion of working here. She was denied entry and sent back same day. Is a CR1 or K1 visa process an option still? I would appreciate any advice or tips you can provide!-

1 RepliesHi everyone, I have a bit of an unusual situation and I'd like to ask for your opinion.
I've been doing freelance work for over 3 years and recently moved to a country different from my home country for my master's. My freelance work was registered under an LLC in my home country, and for the last 2 months, I've been continuing the work as usual, but I found out that it is not allowed to work freelance in a different country if you don't have a work visa. I will be ending my contract with the company tomorrow but since I've been considering applying for the US tourist visa, I am not sure how to explain this situation or if it will cause any problems. Currently, I am a full-time student and do not have any other jobs, so my primary occupation in the form will be student.
So my question is: do I need to state that I previously did freelance work in the form? If I have to, how should I enter the dates? I am hesitant to enter the date of the day my contract ended since I've already been here for a while and it might raise suspicion. Is it okay to enter the date I moved here?

2 RepliesHello everyone!
I'm going to work in the USA, so I've applied for a J1 visa for myself (I am french) and J2 for my wife, a Russian national (we've been married since December 2023). On the DS-2019 form, we indicated that she was a permanent resident of France. We later realized that this wasn't quite the case, as she only has a one-year "Vie priv e et familiale" residence permit at the moment, and not yet what's known as a "carte de r sident".
Is it possible to correct this error in the DS-160 that we will present to the embassy at the interview, indicating that she is still considered a permanent Russian resident for the time being?
Thank you in advance for your answers

2 RepliesHey me and my fianc e are getting close to the end of the K1 Visa but I have a question for the future that maybe someone here might have an answer to.
I (US citizen) am an overseas religious worker and it s our hope to continue this after we get her green card. We would need to be in the US for about a year and a half before going. It is our intent to live in America when I no longer have an overseas assignment but until then we regularly would return for 1 year furloughs, hence the need for a green card. I know about the 131 travel permission form but would this possibly affect her getting a green card due to permanent residency issues?

12 RepliesHi all,
I would be really grateful if someone can help me with this issue. I went to us legally about 20 years ago but failed to fulfil the requirements of my visa. I got married to a US citizen but was deported and banned for 10 years. I went back to my home country and after few years of my wife trying to get me back to USA, we gave up. My wife initially wanted to get a divorce but then for some reason she did not follow through so we stayed married. I on the other hand got married in my home country (India) and subsequently moved to UK and had kids. My Indian wife and I got divorced few years ago and am single now. My USA citizen wife contacted me out of the blue and told me she had cancer and was undergoing treatment.
Now my question is if I can apply for a non-immigrant visa to go see her at least or in the best case scenario get an immigrant visa based on our valid marriage. We had applied for I-601 when I was in the US but do not know what happened to it.
I am looking forward to your replies which will be much appreciated.
