PSA: If entering the USA 2 years after marriage, kindly remind the immigration officer of this
When we last entered the US, our immigration officer said "Oh, hmm I wonder if I could go ahead and change you an IR-1."  The agent right next to him said "Yes, you can do that" and he acted surprised. His comments made it pretty clear he was going to erroneously issue us a CR-1 and he seemed to not even know he could change the visa status until his coworker advised him (THANK GOODNESS she overheard!).  I don't know how onerous the process is to correct such an oversight but I'm glad we didn't have to find out!

Just wanted to pass this along in the hopes it saves someone from any problems with the wrong stamp being placed in the passport, as I've read about here before....  I would kindly remind the officer "We married >2 years ago.  We can enter with an IR-1 visa now right?"

Traveled to Canada for 20 days after entering the U.S. on a K-1 visa (June 1–22). Seeking reentry under Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR).
I entered the U.S. on a K-1 visa on June 1st and left for Canada on June 2nd, remaining here for 20 days. I am now attempting to return to the U.S. through Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ) using Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR). My K-1 visa is expired, but my I-94 is still valid. Am I ok?

Wrong USCIS application form filed by my lawyer!
Hello, so my wife came in k-1 visa to USA and we got married and all. We filled for work permit and green card together but while doing that my lawyer filed for I-130 no idea why. Will that application make my process for work permit and green card slow? If so how do I withdrawal that application? My lawyer isn’t helpful at all. I need some help…

Seeking advice for Thai/US couple - What US visa path to take?
My gf and I live in Thailand but spend 2-4months in the US per year. Once/if we have children age 5+, the time split would become vice versa. We have no plans to live full-time in the United States in the next 5 years, but I visit my family and friends 2-3x per year for 2-3 weeks at a time. I would love it if she can join me for those trips and experience that part of my life. What options do we have -- US visa wise, maybe a tourist or fiance visa later? Other?

Abandoned AOS and now regret it
Please be nice, I know I made a mistake... But got my K1 approved and arrived in the US June 25, 2024 and applied for AOS February 25, 2025 -- then left the US (abandoned my AOS). Will I be banned for re-entry to the US -- even under a spouse visa?

US Citizen with Foreign Fiancé: When and How to Get Married?
I'm currently living and working in the United States. My fiancé currently lives in Japan. We have been dating for about 6 months, and we have met in person several times, but we are not yet married.
My fiancé will be visiting me in the United States on a tourist visa some time in March or April and staying for about 3 months. I want to file for a fiance/spouse visa asap -- what's next?

In preparing my I-751 submission and the evidence for Bona Fide marriage, I saw the instructions specify affidavits by at least two people are required as evidence:

    Quote

Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by at least two people who have known both of you since your conditional residence was granted and have personal knowledge of your marriage and relationship. (Such persons may be required to testify before an immigration officer as to the information contained in the affidavit.) The original affidavit must be submitted and also contain the following information regarding the person making the affidavit: his or her full name and address; date and place of birth; relationship to you or your spouse, if any; and full information and complete details explaining how the person acquired his or her knowledge. Affidavits must be supported by other types of evidence listed above.

Can someone shed light if this is a recent addition? The I-751 edition is stated as 4/1/2024, but I found forum topics mentioning Affidavits are not necessary that seem to be younger than that.

My fiance completed his interview with the embassy, and we submitted all requested documents, but received everything back with the below letter requesting a DS-260. Is this an error? I understood the DS-260 would be completed when the green card process starts.

My 2025 return is still being processed. Therefore I will be uploading a copy of my signed return, 1099s, and W2s. My 2025 income is primarily from employment salary (no self employment in 2025).

When the instructions reference "your Federal individual income tax return", does that refer to just the 1040 itself, or 1040 WITH schedules and additional forms? I always assumed it was the latter and meant everything one would submit to the IRS, but I'm also realizing the 1040 is specifically titled "U.S. Individual Income Tax Return". That, combined with the fact that self-employed persons are specifically instructed to upload all relevant schedules, makes me think they're only referring to the 1040 for those who qualify on employment wages. Which is correct?

I'm just trying to determine if there'd be any issue uploading the full packet (1040 and additional schedules/forms) with 1099s and W2s, or if I should just do 1040, 1099s, and W2s. There is nothing specific in the instructions that says something like "only submit your Form 1040 [if you qualify on employment income only]", they just keep repeating "Federal individual income tax return".

I have been a USC for almost 10 years. Filed I-130 petitions for siblings 8 years back. My mother is the family matriarch in India and therefore I never petitioned an I-130 for her. She has visited my siblings in two different countries. I would like for my mother to be able to visit me too. For first time application, one of my siblings wanted to accompany her to the US so he suggested to file for both from the embassy in his country of residence. Both were denied, his understandably since he had a pending I-130. Second time, my mother was denied at the Mumbai Consulate in April 2026 despite providing a proof of her strong ties to India (overseeing family business, providing revenue sources, matriarchal duties). The officer apparently did not even glance at the evidence provided and based their decision just on the interview alone. My mother does not speak English and needed a translator. She was earnest in her responses based on how much it meant to me for her to be able to come to the US. I do not know if the officer interpreted that as a sign of desperation on her part. I am devastated at the time and effort it is taking in this process, more so because hers is a legitimate application. She would only be visiting me for a month or two and then the next visit would probably not be for a couple of years. I have already submitted a third DS-160 application, but also wanted to put this out there to seek opinions on whether it is worth the effort again and for tips that we could have missed. The interview appointment from India took place 13 months from submission of the application. I do not want to spend more than an year for another disappointment.

Good morning for Good people, you did tell me to let you know how it ends for my wife visa interview.  I am here again to let you know that my wife have been denied a medical visiting visa under section 214 said by the United States embassy in Ghana Accra 🇬🇭, which has no merit because I provided everything to them.

Hello @zaccunningham13. I've had your case on my tracking list and I think you may have received an interview letter this week. Any news?
