Wrong USCIS application form filed by my lawyer!
Hello, so my wife came in k-1 visa to USA and we got married and all. We filled for work permit and green card together but while doing that my lawyer filed for I-130 no idea why. Will that application make my process for work permit and green card slow? If so how do I withdrawal that application? My lawyer isn’t helpful at all. I need some help…

Seeking advice for Thai/US couple - What US visa path to take?
My gf and I live in Thailand but spend 2-4months in the US per year. Once/if we have children age 5+, the time split would become vice versa. We have no plans to live full-time in the United States in the next 5 years, but I visit my family and friends 2-3x per year for 2-3 weeks at a time. I would love it if she can join me for those trips and experience that part of my life. What options do we have -- US visa wise, maybe a tourist or fiance visa later? Other?

Abandoned AOS and now regret it
Please be nice, I know I made a mistake... But got my K1 approved and arrived in the US June 25, 2024 and applied for AOS February 25, 2025 -- then left the US (abandoned my AOS). Will I be banned for re-entry to the US -- even under a spouse visa?

US Citizen with Foreign Fiancé: When and How to Get Married?
I'm currently living and working in the United States. My fiancé currently lives in Japan. We have been dating for about 6 months, and we have met in person several times, but we are not yet married.
My fiancé will be visiting me in the United States on a tourist visa some time in March or April and staying for about 3 months. I want to file for a fiance/spouse visa asap -- what's next?

N400: Admitted to Weed during Green Card (was it a crime I was not arrested for?)
To start, marijuana is illegal in my country of origin. When I was applying for my green card I admitted to trying marijuana when I was in my 20's (I'm 49 now). I got my green card and have lived in the US for 5 years. I'm in the process of applying for citizenship. What answer should I give to the question: "Have you EVER committed, agreed to commit, asked someone else to commit, helped commit, or tried to commit a crime or offense for which you were NOT arrested? Yes or No" given that I admitted to past marijuana use during the GC process?

NVC confusion, system appears to be again asking for a document already submitted after case has been DQ

So my wife s case was at the NVC in feb 2025 and they asked for additional docs, i submitted them after which look like they accepted the doc and i got a message saying we were DQ. now this was march 2025.

so we are waiting for the Interview date, the other day I decide to login to the NVC just to see if there s anything to see and what I saw confused me.

i see the original message saying that the case has been DQ as of march however they are indicating they need the same additional document they previously asked for; the same doc they asked for previously, that I uploaded they reviewed and accepted and DQd the case.

I got no email indicating the NVC wanted me to submit additional documents and again she s DQ according to the message in the NVC system.
So my question is what s going on?

1 has anyone had a this kind of an experience?

2 how did they deal with it?

    3 what was the outcome.

appreciate any insight and experience anyone can share

    Hi everyone,

I recently became a citizen about 2 months ago and just found out that I owe some money in state taxes for 2023. I had no idea about this debt until today when I received a tax warrant. I ve already paid the amount, but I m worried now about the possibility of denaturalization since they ask you if you owe any state taxes in your interview and n400 form, and I answered no to that question every time. I'm worried that this could be seen as fraud/lying or something similar. As mentioned, I had no idea of this until today, but I'm now worried about this affecting my citizenship. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Traveling to VN with Expired GC and Extension Letter

Not sure if this has been asked but my wife and I are planning to visit Vietnam early next year for Tet. Her GC is currently expired and she has the 48 month extension letter. It has been 2 years since we submitted the I751. Any, with current Trump adm, any issue coming back to the US? I have been reading the news about people getting stopped with expired GC at entry port. I also see lots of people coming back with no issues. I just want to ask people that just recently visited Vietnam to see if they had any issues? Do you foresee any issue starting next year? ICE just got tons of funding to crack down on illegal immigrants so things may be heating up.

CR-1 or K-1 visa for a Mexican getting married to a US citizen

    Hello everyone!

I recently got engaged to my girlfriend back in February. We've been in a long-distance relationship for almost 4 years now, and we're thinking of taking the next step.

We were sure we wanted to go through the K-1 visa process, but since a couple of days ago, I've been lurking in the forums of VJ and reading more and more about both the K1 and CR1 visas. Now I'm debating on going for the CR-1 visa instead.
I've read quite a bit about the pros and cons of each, but I've got a couple of questions to ask before we decide on what route to take.

    For the K-1
I believe right now, the processing time to get to the US is about a year? Possibly a year and a half. But then you have to get married within the 90 days, and then you have to do the adjustment of status. From what I've read (I might've read some old threads, so this might have changed, or processing times might be different), the processing time for the adjustment of status can be about a year? Is this accurate? Could it take longer? Or perhaps could it take less time? I'm a bit worried about being financially dependent on her for a long period of time. If it were, let's say, 3 months or 4 months, we could stomach it, but I feel like somewhere closer to a year, it'd be really rough on both of us.

    For the CR-1
We're not yet married. Personally, I have no qualms about marrying her today and getting the certificate. How would we go about that, and what steps should we take for it to not be considered Visa Fraud? I got my B-2 visa about 2 years ago. I imagine if I were to visit and get married in the US, that would be bad, no?
Is our only option getting married through the Utah process that I've seen some people mention in VJ? Or how about her coming to Mexico and us getting married here ASAP, and then getting started on the process ASAP as well? Would we need to wait for any specific amount of time before getting started with the process?

I'm sure I'll have plenty more questions, but these are the most important right now. Looking forward to hearing from the nice members of this community!

    online n-400 bug?

    Hello, everyone

I am filing the n-400 online based on marriage to a U.S. citizen.

When populating fields regarding my spouse, there are none pertaining to employment.

However, when I go to the review the form, it reads "my spouse is currently unemployed".

When I check the PDF snapshot, employment of the U.S. citizen spouse seems to apply only if said spouse is working outside of the country, which is not my spouse's case.

    I have attached a screenshot.

I wonder if this is a known bug? Is it ok to submit the application otherwise?

I am including tax transcripts, and bank statements, both of this show my spouse's income, which is evidence of employment if it even matters to USCIS for the purpose of naturalization.

I also have the green flat that reads "there are no issues with your application".

Should I just mail in the form and evidence, instead of doing it online?

Well, the Journey is over. My wife became a US citizen on July 1st 2025.
I want to thank all the people here for the help along the way.
When we started this, I was just looking for information about the different visa options. And stumbled on to this site.
Little did I know, that I would actually find a "second" family of friends, helpful resources and people willing to actually help a Newby along the way.
We did all the paperwork from beginning to end ourselves; and yes some mistakes were made that costs time and money but it was learning experience and I hope that anyone reading our timeline, learns how to avoid them and make the right moves for their journey.
Special thanks to @Hank who hasn't been online in a couple years but I think was the most informed person here on anything about the Philippines and to all the ones that answered my questions no matter how simple they seemed to be.
Although we have made to the end of our rainbow, I will be checking in and hopefully get to use the things I have learned to help others along their Visa Journey.
      Thank You again,
      Michael and Angelica

      Hi everyone,
I’ve already received my NOA2 and have been waiting for my case number for about 2 months now.
I’m planning to submit a public inquiry to the NVC, but I’m wondering:

      1. is it okay if the beneficiary submits the public inquiry to ask Case Number, or does it have to be the petitioner?

      2. how long does it usually take to receive the case number after submitting the public inquiry?

Thanks in advance for your help

      Hello all,

just a quick (and may be a silly one) question on time line for case status with USCIS.

when you see “Estimated time until your case decision:” is updated; how you interpret the months shows? E.g., if “Estimated time until your case decision:“ shows 11 months, does it mean that 11 months are from the original receipt date? Or is it from the day the status was updated?

      Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone I really need help right now my case is in US consulate Montreal but was placed on administrative processing but I’m back in my home country Nigeria and I’ve been having difficulty communicating with them in regards to the transfer of my case
if anyone knows their mobile number and email address for Immigrant cases please let me know
thank you for your assistance in advance.

and another thing it’s been about two years since I went for my last interview and was refused based on the fact that I had outgrown my category and was told to wait
while transferring to another consulate do I need to also contact and NVC and notify them about it and does it affect my case in anyway.
