Petrisaint Mpaka posted a topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures,
I applied for the DV lottery 2025 and hope to be selected this year. My fiancé and I discovered that there is a fiancé visa for the USA. Do you think if we apply for the K1 visa but are selected for the DV lottery that we can stop the fiancé visa process? What are the timelines and options here :)?-

Confused about steps after marriage
SP1988 posted a topic in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas,
My fiancee arrived last month on K1 fiance visa and we got married yesterday. It seems from what I have seen online that I made a mistake by not getting SSN prior to marriage? I am going to the SSN office on Monday to gather more information... also worried about employment authorization and travel authorization(s). Thanks for any insights!-

Tourist visa cancelled by CBP agent. Can we still get a CR1 or K1 Visa?
yotajeeper posted a topic in What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration,
Upon my gf's most recent arrival, her tourist visa was cancelled at the airport due to her frequent visits last year and suspicion of working here. She was denied entry and sent back same day. Is a CR1 or K1 visa process an option still? I would appreciate any advice or tips you can provide!-

1 RepliesHi all. Question here. I want to send by mail a I-130 petitioner withdrawal letter to a USCIS center but my problem is that I can't find an address for this. I'm a Florida filler and my receipt number start with IOE, which is an Electronical filing process. All I could find a LOCKBOX P.O box address in Phoenix which I am not sure of. Hope someone can help! Thanks in advance.

1 RepliesAs I wrote earlier, I came to the United States on a J1 visa, got married the day before its expiration, and then technically overstayed (I'm still in the US). So, now I'm in the process of filling out documents to Adjust the Status.
I would be really happy with help of questions about filling out the form I-485 :
Part 2, page 7, item 4: If you selected a family based,.........., are you applying for adjustment based on INA section 245 (i)? Yes or No?
Part 9, page 14, item 13: Have you EVER violated the terms or conditions of your nonimmigrant status? Yes or No?
Part 9, page 21, item 76: Since April 1, 1997, have you been unlawfully present in the United States......? Yes or No
Part 9, page 19, 57-60: Should I include our sponsor (spouse's parent) in all these items? Or I should count only both of us?

9 RepliesHello everyone,
I am back in my home country of Sweden now after spending 86 days with my now husband (as of January 10th). I was wondering some things regarding the steps moving forward - I am intending to change my last name (taking his), which would require me to get a new ID and passport, but that would also mean applying for a new ESTA. If I apply for an ESTA with an I-130 pending, I suspect this will most likely be declined? What would be the best approach here? Don't change my name and deal with changing the name on (hopefully) the greencard later? Don't send in the I-130 until our next visit is over, as we have not yet filed it? Would love some advice if possible. Thanks in advance
Applying visa from a third country 3:27 pm today

3 RepliesHas anyone successfully applied for B1/B2 or C1/D from a country outside Canada like maybe the Bahamas? I have a PR in Canada and not having a US visa is severely restricting my options to get a job as a pilot, and the interview wait times in Canada aren't helping.
For background info, I was in living in a country where wait times were much lower, and I knew I would run into this issue once I moved to Canada. So I tried to apply for the visas there before moving here. The officer rejected the application at the time saying that I would have to apply here in Canada after settling here and with a company letter when I get hired. This is perfectly reasonable but now I'm in Canada and struggling to find a job because how can I get any company to wait for me for 700+ days to get a visa to travel to US for training?
What are my possible options? Any suggestions?

4 RepliesThe N400 asks if I would like to change my name legally,
should I or is it a waste of extra processing time (along with other possible complications) ?
My spouse and I did a cover letter with our I-751 where we asked USCIS to call me by my married name.
They complied and all notices sent to us were in my married name after that.
I have actually changed my name to my married name in my country and have a new passport
with that married name. My 2 year conditional green card and ssn is in my maiden name though.
Would it be better to just do the legal name change with the N400?Seems like there is a wealth of conflicting information about this online,
The amount of conflicting information has left me confused.
Thanks for any answers and advice.
