Community SpotlightDV Lottery of K1 Visa - Can I file for both?
Petrisaint Mpaka posted a topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures,
I applied for the DV lottery 2025 and hope to be selected this year. My fiancé and I discovered that there is a fiancé visa for the USA. Do you think if we apply for the K1 visa but are selected for the DV lottery that we can stop the fiancé visa process? What are the timelines and options here :)?-

Confused about steps after marriage
SP1988 posted a topic in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas,
My fiancee arrived last month on K1 fiance visa and we got married yesterday. It seems from what I have seen online that I made a mistake by not getting SSN prior to marriage? I am going to the SSN office on Monday to gather more information... also worried about employment authorization and travel authorization(s). Thanks for any insights!-

Tourist visa cancelled by CBP agent. Can we still get a CR1 or K1 Visa?
yotajeeper posted a topic in What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration,
Upon my gf's most recent arrival, her tourist visa was cancelled at the airport due to her frequent visits last year and suspicion of working here. She was denied entry and sent back same day. Is a CR1 or K1 visa process an option still? I would appreciate any advice or tips you can provide!-

1 RepliesHi everyone, most of the topics that I have read were all about visas other than IR-5 Parent of a US Citizen. I am worried because my parents are set for a visa interview in Manila this coming Feb. 25, 2025 but then the earliest biometric appointment I got for them is March 11, 2025 which is days after their scheduled visa interview. I called customer service and I was advised to keep the visa interview date and enclose biometric appointment and confirmation letter during the interview, and they will just give them instruction once they are inside. I asked them what will be the consequences if they don t get fingerprinted before the interview. They just told me that the US Embassy will give my parents instruction. I am so worried, my parents live in eastern visayas, I don t want them to go back to the U.S. Embassy because of that. I don t want to reschedule the visa interview, and I have been waiting for years already. I don t want them to stay too long in Manila because we have no relatives there plus the expenses that will be incurred if they stay for days or if they get denied or refused because of that.
What will happen if they don t get their biometric done before the visa interview. Will they be denied or refused? I was strongly advised by the call center agent to keep the scheduled visa interview appointment.
Anyone can answer my questions?
Thanks.
Clarification on Financial Documents needing to be Original 2:24 am today

1 RepliesHi all,
I'm just double checking what is acceptable at the Interview for Financial Documents. I have my 2023 tax return and supporting documents for that already uploaded and accepted on the CEAC website and my wife's IR-1 interview is scheduled for next month. On the travel.state.gov website it seems to indicate that my wife needs to physically bring the AoS I-864, tax return and supporting documents linked to that to the Visa Interview, but doesn't specify that these docs need to be original or certified in some way. Most of my financial docs are just printed, but SOME were mailed to me like W2s and I can use those. I have 2 tax docs from Uber/Lyft that were available on their website and I just printed them, is that okay to use or does it need to be mailed to me from them? Also I'm assuming I can just print paystubs my employer emails to me for proof of current income as well? Thanks so much!

1 RepliesHello, my spouse received a 221 g for my low income. I'm retired and have well over the minimum amount of 125% of the poverty level. They are cash assets in the bank. It's as if the consular officer in Manila didn't look at any of my bank account statement. I submitted 12 months. I have a brokerage account and an IRA.
I'm retired and I don't have any joint sponsers. I don't need any because I qualify to use assets based on the policy.
The consular absolutely refused to look at the financial docs that my spouse brought.

1 RepliesHi. I am Canadian and my sister (a US citizen) who is applying for me. She gave me the form and it shows I-130.
How much time needed to get green card through I 130 for a Canadian citizen living in Canada?
My wife is Canadian PR. Will it delay the process?
So is it better to apply once she has Canadian passport to cut down processing time significantly?
Thank you.
Slight Inconsistency in Mother's Surname Spelling 1:30 am today

2 RepliesHello,
I have put myself in a slightly confusing situation by not being careful enough to fill out all of my documents consistently. I am almost ready to submit the I-485 and I-765 for my K-1 beneficiary wife. Both documents ask for the petitioner's mother's name. The concern I have is that on our original I-129f we used one version of the transliteration from Arabic, and on the marriage certificate we used a different transliteration, which is the one that matches her mother's current passport. It's the difference between a Q/K and an i/e; both transliterations are pronounced the same. I assume the most important thing is that the petitioner's information is correct, which it is, but I would like to avoid having to deal with an RFE for this inconsistency, because her mother doesn't support our relationship and likely won't cooperate. So my question is, should we:
- stick with the version of her name we used on our original application, or
- go with the more recent transliteration that appears on her passport, and which we used on the marriage certificate?
Thanks.
