DV Lottery of K1 Visa - Can I file for both?
I applied for the DV lottery 2025 and hope to be selected this year. My fiancé and I discovered that there is a fiancé visa for the USA. Do you think if we apply for the K1 visa but are selected for the DV lottery that we can stop the fiancé visa process? What are the timelines and options here :)?

    Confused about steps after marriage
My fiancee arrived last month on K1 fiance visa and we got married yesterday. It seems from what I have seen online that I made a mistake by not getting SSN prior to marriage? I am going to the SSN office on Monday to gather more information... also worried about employment authorization and travel authorization(s). Thanks for any insights!

Tourist visa cancelled by CBP agent. Can we still get a CR1 or K1 Visa?
Upon my gf's most recent arrival, her tourist visa was cancelled at the airport due to her frequent visits last year and suspicion of working here. She was denied entry and sent back same day. Is a CR1 or K1 visa process an option still? I would appreciate any advice or tips you can provide!

Is it necessary to update the DS-260 Form before interview as my husband has retired and started a new job? We've already updated our residential address. Also do we have to upload it while using nvc login and Password?

    Hi everyone,

My wife received her Biometrics appointment scheduled for November 1, but it came as a PDF from her online account and not on the I-797c form. Instead it has an 'Appointment Scheduled' header and a bar code and so forth.

Will this suffice for presenting at the appointment or should I be looking for the actual I-797c form?

The PDF that we received has all of her information along with the date and time but on a second page which are instructions for the appointment day reference presenting the 797c , so it's a little confusing to us.

    Tx!

Honduran Embassy Never Sent Pre-Interview Info, Then Denied My Fiancée Entry Into K1 Interview

    Hi everyone,
At the end of August 2024, we booked our K1 interview for Thursday, October 17 at the US Embassy in Tegucigalpa. Honduras uses a pre-interview system where you must attend a separate interview to have your documents reviewed, then you are asked the questions at the main interview. The only "official" mention of this is on the Tegucigalpa Embassy page here; my fianc e was also aware from WhatsApp groups we're in. It's not mentioned on the new visa provider website for Honduras, which we migrated our account to after they changed it in mid-September.
From everything we've seen and researched, the embassy will email you about your pre-interview at whatever time they choose; it could be weeks before or a few days before. You do not pick your own pre-interview date. However, neither of us were ever contacted with information about the pre-interview. We both contacted the embassy via phone, as well as via email, multiple times to ask. I called on October 7, and was told that they didn't have any information about the pre-interview. They said she should show up for the scheduled interview if we didn't hear about the pre-interview, so that's what she did.
None of our other attempts at contacting the embassy about the pre-interview resulted in more information. We both checked our email regularly (including spam) and saw nothing concerning her pre-interview. I have noticed that the case number does not appear on our account page linked above -- I attempted to add this, but the box is grayed out so I cannot. I wonder if this could be what led to the pre-interview information not being sent out.

    -----

After waiting for hours at the embassy on October 17, my fianc e was told that she was not able to enter for her interview because she had not completed the pre-interview. She explained the above but they still wouldn't let her in. I immediately called the Honduran number for the US Embassy (because the US number was no help) and was told that this issue was not our fault; there must have been an administrative mix-up. Several other K1 interviewees that my fianc e met at the embassy on Oct 17 also had the same experience: not being allowed to enter after not receiving any contact about their pre-interview.
I was then told on the phone that I needed to contact tggiv@state.gov, from which I would receive instructions to reschedule her interview. I followed those instructions and was led to the reschedule option on the visa provider website, which I linked above. However, I've tried to schedule another appointment 6+ times over the last day, and every time I get a "System is busy. Please try again later." message.

I'm not sure what other countries do pre-interviews, so I wanted to ask if anyone has dealt with a pre-interview and what it was like for you. I am beyond furious to the point where I cannot see straight -- this system of "we'll contact you, but if we don't, then you're screwed and have to reschedule" is ridiculous. It is absurd that we followed the directions we were told and she wasn't allowed in on Thursday, even though she had everything she needed (including proof she had emailed to ask about this and never got a straight answer). I am going to be beside myself if we have to get back in line and wait months more for an appointment when it's the embassy's screw-up that caused this.

    Filing I-175 but moving states

My wife came to the US via K1 Visa. We got married, moved to California, filed the I-485 from California, and received the Conditional Green Card.

Her Conditional Green Card will expire in March of 2025, which means she should submit an I-751 in December 2024 (few months from now).

The complexity is this: we will be moving to Washington state next week.

Besides submitting an I-751 from Washington state, what else should we do to make sure there are no complications? I'm guessing at the minimum, she should also log into USCIS and submit a change of address request?

    Hi,

I applied for EB2 category from Iran and after waiting about 15 months since DQ for interview at an embassy in neighbor countries, I transferred my case to Kuala Lumpur two months ago. Does anyone know the average waiting time for IL in EB1 and EB2 categories at Kuala Lumpur?

    Thanks

Days just ticking away and no action. 216 days since they received the application and still under review. We completed the inquiry and we were told to wait until the Milwaukee office has opening for interview.

I am starting to doubt if we would get interview before Christmas.

      Anyone waiting for Milwaukee office?

Hi there! I came across your review post and was wondering if you could help me out as I'm in a similar situation as you were. My sponsor is a USC who just started grad school this fall but was working full time before that. Sponsor is on a full scholarship and monthly stipend. Also has a new address.

We have already been DQ(before grad school) and waiting for IL. The stipend is still above the poverty guidelines limit but we're wondering if the grad school situation will be an issue during the interview process? What about the address? Do we need a joint sponsor at this stage?

My wife's visa Journey is nearing the finish line.

February 8, 2023: We went in for the N-400 interview but were told on the spot that the i-751 Interview would also be done, which threw us off. It was our fault for not doing more research and bringing a hard copy of what we sent. Thankfully, we were approved for the i-751 removal of conditions. However, the N-400 was canceled pending rescheduling.
July 18, 2024: Received notice: "We are actively reviewing your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization. Our records show nothing outstanding at this time."
August 26, 2024: Received notice: "We scheduled an interview for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization. (September 30, 2024 Irving)"
      September 30, 2024:
      8 am: Complete interview
9:30 am received notice: "We recommended that your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, be approved. Your case was submitted for quality review."
12 pm: Receive notice: "Your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, was placed in line for oath ceremony scheduling."
1:30 pm receive notice: "Oath Ceremony Notice Was Mailed (October 19, October 2, 12 pm Irving, TX)."
We got there at about 7:45 am. They only let her in, and I stayed in the car.
According to her, she went through security and had to wait 10-15 min for them to call her. The officer interviewing was pleasant and spoke good english. She starts with an oath where she stands, raises her right hand, and swears to tell the truth. No small talk at all. The first thing was to read and confirm her full name. Then the officer asked my wife to read out loud one sentence. Then the officer said, "California has the most people," and my wife had to write it on a tablet.
      Civics Test:
      -Name of national anthem
-Where is the Statue of Liberty?
      -Who makes laws
-Who signs bills to become laws?
      -I forgot the last one.
From there, it was an N-400 walkthrough. The first minor hiccup was how long we've lived at our current address. We have lived in the same building address for 4+ years but moved apartments, so technically, our current apartment has been there for only two years, but the building has had the same address for 4. My wife had to point that out to the officer.

Things got really tense once it came to how long she'd been out of the country. The officer said, "You've been out of the country longer than you're supposed to, which is more than six months in a year."
My wife had only been out of the country 2-3 weeks a year for the past five years, so this was very confusing. The officer showed my wife the screen, and it showed a bunch of dates that we did not submit on our N-400 or I-751. As it turns out, the system added the 1+ year she needed to wait outside of the country for her CR-1 to be approved and lawfully enter the US. We are really grateful the officer showed the screen and a willingness to listen because it allowed my wife to walk through with the officer that it's counting time before she was a lawful resident and we lived in Colombia right after getting married because our understanding was to change her Visa from visitor to spousal, we HAD to leave the USA until the CR1 was approved, a new visa was added to her passport and mailed back to her.
The officer said that made sense and let my wife know that if she hadn't clarified that, she would have denied her and was actually wondering why my wife came to the interview if we knew she was going to be denied based on being out of the country for so long.
After that tense back-and-forth, the officer made all the updates in the system and said my wife was recommended for approval.

We were shaken at the fact an error happened that was no fault of our own, and that error was pointing us to being denied. But we are SUPER grateful the officer was willing to let us explain our side and not just try to push us through to get to the next person. Overall, it was like a 45-minute interview, and the happiness kicked in with them being so quick to schedule our oath ceremony (October 19).
