Community SpotlightDV Lottery of K1 Visa - Can I file for both?
Petrisaint Mpaka posted a topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures,
I applied for the DV lottery 2025 and hope to be selected this year. My fiancé and I discovered that there is a fiancé visa for the USA. Do you think if we apply for the K1 visa but are selected for the DV lottery that we can stop the fiancé visa process? What are the timelines and options here :)?-

Confused about steps after marriage
SP1988 posted a topic in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas,
My fiancee arrived last month on K1 fiance visa and we got married yesterday. It seems from what I have seen online that I made a mistake by not getting SSN prior to marriage? I am going to the SSN office on Monday to gather more information... also worried about employment authorization and travel authorization(s). Thanks for any insights!-

Tourist visa cancelled by CBP agent. Can we still get a CR1 or K1 Visa?
yotajeeper posted a topic in What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration,
Upon my gf's most recent arrival, her tourist visa was cancelled at the airport due to her frequent visits last year and suspicion of working here. She was denied entry and sent back same day. Is a CR1 or K1 visa process an option still? I would appreciate any advice or tips you can provide!-

3 RepliesMy spouse is in the Philipines waiting for her spouse visa. I received a Request for Evidence letter from USCIS. They want evidence of shared bank accounts, share housing contracts ect... She has never been to the US, I tried to sign her on to my bank accounts and with out a SSA they can't. My tax preparer didnt put me as married since she isnt here and no SSA. We were able to add her as my military dependent at the VA in Manila.
Is there a way I can get her a SSA while we are waiting for the Visa?
On the items they want shared contracts I wrote in the letter why she isnt on them.
Thank you for any help.

1 RepliesWhen I was born I was called Firstname Middlename MotherSurname. I was called as such for the first 18 months of my life.
Now I am called Firstname Middlename FatherSurname.
This name change does not have a court order. It simply is stated on my birth certificate that I'm called Firstname Middlename MotherSurname. This birth certificate has an attachment where it is stated that my father acknowledged me and that the family name is now FatherSurname.
Is this enough evidence of a name change?
In what part do I upload this?
There is a name change part to upload it, but in the way it is worded it is insinuating that there's a mismatch between relevant documents. Such as for example, our marriage certificate and my passport (e.g. my marriage certificate would have MotherSurname and my passport would have FatherSurname). However, this is not the case, all names match. I was simply called Firstname Middlename MotherSurname eons ago. Nowadays everything has FatherSurname on it.
So I'm not sure where I upload the birth certificate on the online I-130 form.
Traveling with 48-months extension letter, pending i-751 with a divorce waiver 7:55 pm yesterday

2 RepliesHi y'all!
So, I know there are quite a few threads about this topic, nevertheless, I got worried and thought I would start my own to get a bit more input on this particular situation. I filed my i-751 with a divorce waiver back in April of 2023 which is still pending but I have received a 48-months extension letter back then. I have not visited my parents back home since I moved to Texas which has now being almost 5 years. The main reason why I never went back visiting was all these horror stories during COVID but also all the stories of coming back home to America, but after 5 years, I really just wanted to do something good for my parents and go see their faces for a week. So, I booked a flight via Lufthansa going from DFW, TX to Sofia, Bulgaria for just a week in September which is right before my mom's birthday - thought it would be a nice little gift to her.
Something I am worried about is, I filed on a divorce waiver and wonder if that might be an issue. The other thing is, I am originally from Austria (born and raised with Austrian citizenship), but my parents decided to move back to Bulgaria due to my grandparents. Would that cause an issues now that I am not going back to Austria but Bulgaria?
Also, from my understanding, all I need is my valid Austria passport which is good until October 2025 and the 48-months extension letter. Is that still correct? I also chose to fly with Lufthansa since I have always had a great experience with them for years even during my immigration process so I hope that remains the same.
Any advice would be so appreciated! I am a bit nervous but I feel like I have all my ducks in a row. Also, I am planning to file for N-400 sometime soon by the 5 year rule.

3 RepliesMy daugther in law has been here for a little over 3 yrs. She is applying for her citizenship. The major concern is she recieved Michigan Medicaid, shortly. Only 2 MD check ups. She canceled this once she relized this could hurt her. She is now telling me that this may have constituted fraud. Will this hurt her in her application? She will be 100% honest on her app. The blame is on me as I am the one who encouraged this.

5 RepliesMy wife's interview letter (Myanmar citizen, residing in Bangkok) from the Bangkok Embassy states that prior to her interview we must upload a Valid Myanmar Police Certificate and translation despite the fact that we uploaded one that was accepted by NVC in March 2024. She has not returned to Myanmar since then so the certificate should still be valid. After getting stuck for 10 weeks in the sputum test debacle, we don't want any surprises at her interview on July 26. Attached is a redacted copy of the certificate and translation we submitted. I uploaded it again and hope it will suffice, but I want to make sure I am covering all my bases.

@ThailandRand @Mike E I saw your thread below, similar but not exact issue last July so I was hoping you could chime in.
