Community SpotlightDV Lottery of K1 Visa - Can I file for both?
Petrisaint Mpaka posted a topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures,
I applied for the DV lottery 2025 and hope to be selected this year. My fiancé and I discovered that there is a fiancé visa for the USA. Do you think if we apply for the K1 visa but are selected for the DV lottery that we can stop the fiancé visa process? What are the timelines and options here :)?-

Confused about steps after marriage
SP1988 posted a topic in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas,
My fiancee arrived last month on K1 fiance visa and we got married yesterday. It seems from what I have seen online that I made a mistake by not getting SSN prior to marriage? I am going to the SSN office on Monday to gather more information... also worried about employment authorization and travel authorization(s). Thanks for any insights!-

Tourist visa cancelled by CBP agent. Can we still get a CR1 or K1 Visa?
yotajeeper posted a topic in What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration,
Upon my gf's most recent arrival, her tourist visa was cancelled at the airport due to her frequent visits last year and suspicion of working here. She was denied entry and sent back same day. Is a CR1 or K1 visa process an option still? I would appreciate any advice or tips you can provide!-

2 RepliesHello,
I am an American and my husband is a Canadian citizen. The NVC has told us that they have received all of our documents as of 11/20/24. Can anyone tell us how long it takes to get an interview date for Montreal? Do we get to pick our own date or we are just given one? We are working with a lawyer who has been submitting paperwork on our behalf. The lawyer does not currently have any other clients in Canada so is not able to get us any kind of timeline. We appreciate any information!
Seeking Advice: K-1 Visa Delays in Lima, Peru 8:59 pm today

1 RepliesHello everyone,
I m reaching out to hear from others who might have experienced something similar in their K-1 visa journey. My fianc and I have been waiting for several months, and we re not sure what else to do but wait.
Our case is being processed in Lima, Peru. In July, we received an email from our immigration attorney with instructions to create an account to schedule the interview appointment. Since then, we ve completed the DS-160 and followed the instructions to register on the scheduling platform. However, every time we check, the system says that our case is not ready to schedule an appointment.
I called the embassy recently, and they confirmed that there are no available appointment dates yet. The only advice they gave was to keep waiting, which seems to be the only solution at this point.
I would love to hear from anyone who has gone through this process in Lima or any other location. How long did it take for you to get an appointment? Were there any additional steps you took that helped? Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated as we navigate this uncertain waiting period.
Thank you in advance for sharing your experiences!

4 RepliesHi all, I ve been in the U.S. for just over a month now. I applied for my SSN before getting married, and our marriage certificate (with extra copies) arrived last week. We re planning to go back to the Social Security office tomorrow with the certificate, my passport, and my I-94 to update my name to my spouse s name. Do I need anything else to complete this process? I ve heard it must be done within the 90 days. Thanks in advance
H1B stamping: DS-160 questions on lost passport 7:57 pm today

1 RepliesI am planning to visit my home country (India) for first-time H1B visa stamping. While filling out the DS-160 form and Visa portal questions, I was confused about a few questions on previous passport and visa:
- Has your visa ever been stolen?
- Has your visa ever been cancelled or revoked?
- Have you ever lost a passport or had one stolen?
- Was your most recent U.S. visa lost, stolen, canceled, revoked, or marked CWOP?
My situation is a bit weird. 2 years ago I thought I had lost my passport while traveling locally in the US. That passport had my F1 visa. To apply for a new one I had to file a police report. I received the new one, and it mentions that the previous one is reported as lost . I used this new passport for successfully applying to H1B - change of status from F1. Note that this new passport doesn t have any visa stamps yet. After a while, I then also found the old passport somewhere in my home i.e. it was never really lost or stolen. I am unsure how to accurately answer the above 4 questions since I still have my previous passport and previous visa.
