DV Lottery of K1 Visa - Can I file for both?
I applied for the DV lottery 2025 and hope to be selected this year. My fiancé and I discovered that there is a fiancé visa for the USA. Do you think if we apply for the K1 visa but are selected for the DV lottery that we can stop the fiancé visa process? What are the timelines and options here :)?

    Confused about steps after marriage
My fiancee arrived last month on K1 fiance visa and we got married yesterday. It seems from what I have seen online that I made a mistake by not getting SSN prior to marriage? I am going to the SSN office on Monday to gather more information... also worried about employment authorization and travel authorization(s). Thanks for any insights!

Divorce from non-immigrant (out of status) and financial responbsibility
I go to court next month for another hearing... The judge previously said the "Plaintiff was financially obligated to support [my ex] while she resided in the United States." What does that mean?

Tourist visa cancelled by CBP agent. Can we still get a CR1 or K1 Visa?
Upon my gf's most recent arrival, her tourist visa was cancelled at the airport due to her frequent visits last year and suspicion of working here. She was denied entry and sent back same day. Is a CR1 or K1 visa process an option still? I would appreciate any advice or tips you can provide!

    Hello,

I am preparing for the evidence that needs to be sent in. Applying under the 5 year rule since I am divorced. On the list of evidence is listed: Current marriage certificate and previous marriage documents

    There it says:

Upload a copy of your current marriage certificate. Also upload any divorce decrees, annulment decrees, or death certificates showing that your prior marriages, and your spouse's prior marriages, were terminated (if applicable).

Now, since I am divorced, do I still have to send in the marriage certificate, even though I am now divorced? Do I sent both in? Marriage certificate and divorce decree? Or just divorce decree??

Any one filed and were in the same situation?

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows if there are delays with SSA issuing SSN at the moment at all? Normally on the forum I have seen quite a few people say that they have got theirs back within 1-2 weeks after their appointment, however, it has nearly been 3 weeks since my appointment and not received anything as of yet. It does say on the letter from my appointment that it can take up to 4 weeks so I am mindful it can take a bit longer along with that there were federal holidays recently (Christmas Day and New Years Day) along with being closed on the 9th as well. I will give them a call in about a week or so for a status update though.

I have seen a few people on the forum recently say that they had to wait a bit longer than usual as well. Is it normally a bit slower this time of the year (due to staff levels and federal holidays)? Is it dependent on which Office and/or State that you are applying for a SSN in?

If anyone has any insight or knowledge on this then it would be greatly appreciated.

    Hope you can help!

    K-1 to AOS - I-485 education question

    Hello all,

We are going to be submitting my husbands AOS packet in the next few days and have a question.

For this section of I-485, how scrutinized is this for AOS from K-1? We are trying to figure out exactly what to put for number 66.

My husband went to school in Germany. He completed 10th year and then did 2 years in vocational training, completed it, and earned a certificate/diploma for this. This isn't a high school diploma.

Our question is, what box do we need to tick? Grades 1 through 11? high school diploma, GED, or alternative credential?

When's the recommended time to change address with USCIS in this case? The lease for our new place started beginning of this month, but we are physically going to be moving in a week ( that's when our move-out date is from our old place). Should we go ahead and update the address with USCIS now? or wait till the actual day we physically move-in? Thanks
