Community SpotlightDV Lottery of K1 Visa - Can I file for both?
Petrisaint Mpaka posted a topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures,
I applied for the DV lottery 2025 and hope to be selected this year. My fiancé and I discovered that there is a fiancé visa for the USA. Do you think if we apply for the K1 visa but are selected for the DV lottery that we can stop the fiancé visa process? What are the timelines and options here :)?-

Confused about steps after marriage
SP1988 posted a topic in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas,
My fiancee arrived last month on K1 fiance visa and we got married yesterday. It seems from what I have seen online that I made a mistake by not getting SSN prior to marriage? I am going to the SSN office on Monday to gather more information... also worried about employment authorization and travel authorization(s). Thanks for any insights!-

Tourist visa cancelled by CBP agent. Can we still get a CR1 or K1 Visa?
yotajeeper posted a topic in What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration,
Upon my gf's most recent arrival, her tourist visa was cancelled at the airport due to her frequent visits last year and suspicion of working here. She was denied entry and sent back same day. Is a CR1 or K1 visa process an option still? I would appreciate any advice or tips you can provide!-

1 RepliesHello,
My fianc is from the Philippines, but is currently working in Thailand as a teacher and will be returning to the Philippines late February or early March of next year when her contract is finished. Should I make her current address the Thailand address and the address in the Philippines a previous address? My only concern is her address will change while the package is with USCIS and this might raise a red flag. How do I document or express future plans for her to move back to the Philippines?

2 RepliesI'm an expat in the Philippines and I've been living here with my wife of 7 years since 2018. I saw that people in my position typically have trouble proving intent to reestablish domicile. In order to prepare concrete evidence of intent to reestablish domicile, I am considering buying a condo in the US where we intend to settle and to also valuate our house here in the Philippines and post it for sale. The thing is, I am reluctant to spend a bunch of money on a condo (or fly out ahead of my wife and sign a long term lease) unless I feel like there's a really good shot at the IR1 being approved. We have joint sponsors so that won't be the issue, and I intend to do an affidavit outlining my plans to reestablish domicile for the NVC, but I read people say the offers in he Manila embassy want the American spouse to be IN America during the interview.
So my question is this: at what point can I consider that IR1 visa is a 99% sure thing? After I-130 approval? After DQ? Literally the only weak spot in our application is my domicile. We are super obviously a legitimately married couple for love and we meet the financial requirements.

2 RepliesI am a US citizen. I have lived in a country in Latin America for 20 years. I have residency here. I married a woman 16 years ago and have two children born here in Latin America. Both children have US citizenship now. We want to move to the USA. My wife has a US B1/B2 tourist visa. What is the best way to go about the us residency process for her? Ideally, we would all move together in January when I start my new job. However, I feel like there could be a problem if she enters with her B1B2 visa and then applies for a green card.
I do have a job offer and I just signed the contract. I have residency in the Latin American country and I think, from what I could tell, our situation would qualify for Direct Consular Filing. Does anyone know where I can find a list of embassies that accept DCF? How likely would it be able to get approved for DCF? Our priorities are to avoid family separation (everyone's priorities).
