... Huckabee addressing a gathering of Southern Baptist pastors in Salt Lake City. At the gathering, Huckabee let fly with oratory sure to distress all but the staunchest of Christians in the GOP.

Here, then, a summary of his remarks:

"The reason we have so much government is because we have so much broken humanity. And the reason we have so much broken humanity is because sin reigns in the hearts and lives of human beings instead of the Savior."

"Government knows it does not have the answer, but it's arrogant and acts as though it does. Church does have the answer but will cowardly deny that it does ans wonder when the world will be changed."

"I didn't get into politics because I thought government had a better answer. I got into politics because I knew government didn't have the real answers, that the real answers lie in accepting Jesus Christ into our lives.

"There's not one thing we can do in those marbled [governmental] halls domed capitols that can equal what's done when Jesus touches the lives of a sinner."

"I hope we answer the alarm clock and take this nation back for Christ."

I don't think Huckabee has much of a chance; he's actually Christian. I rather like the separation of church and state, but that's just because I can see what happens when religion gets an army.

Everyone's coming at Huckabee now from all sides. He must've really made it to prime time now. He seems to not be as quick on his feet to respond though. He had to have known that people would be digging..... I think the oppposition groups will dig deepest into his pardons. That seems to be a potential Achilles heel with him.

I say that if you look at his record the fears that he will be the pope east are unfounded. There is nothing wrong with using your beliefs to guide you. He was speaking to other pastors. Context is everything.
