Hi all...

We are still waiting for our case to be transfered to the NVC, where it will then be sent to the US Consulate in Calgary, AB. I was wondering if anyone has any experience or any info about what the interview and timelines are like there. I see a lot of postings about Montreal and Vancouver, but nothing about Calgary as far as I can tell. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I don't have any Calgary experience, but I am sure someone will respond who does. You might want to go into the time lines and set a query to your visa type, and the Calgary consulate. It should come back with everyone who has submitted their time line and their progress.

As you are applying for a K visa, and i'm assuming you live in Calgary, your case will be be handled by and your interview will take place in Vancouver.

In Canada all IR1/CR1 cases are interviewed in Montreal, K visas in Montreal or Vancouver depending on your province of residence.

Interviews seem to come about fairly quickly for Vancouver, i'm sure some K visa people will happen along that can give you a better idea of the wait time for an interview there.

Thanks for your responses... I wonder if this is going to be a problem. When we sent in our I-129F we stated on it that it be sent to the consulate in Calgary (not realizing until now that it can't be processed there). Will it be automatically forwarded to Vancouver from the NVC? (I live in British Columbia) or will it go to Calgary and get forwarded from there? Perhaps I should call someone to make the change?

Stress!

Thanks for your help again.

Don't worry, your petition will be forwarded to the correct consulate by the NVC. :)

Ok then, Calgary will forward your application to the correct Service Center as Nini & Bee advised.

yep it should goto vancouver. if for some strange reason it goes to Montreal, Quickly send an email to Mtl stating u live in Calgary, thus ur interview should be in Van!! VAn is much faster than mtl at spitting out interviews!! But don't worry, lot of people put down the closest consulate to them and it all works out.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
