My fiance was filling out his biographical info for the G-325A (for the K1), and realized he doesn't know his birth father's birthday or the correct spelling of his last name.

His father abandoned him and his mother when he was 3 years old, and he is 42. Apparently, at that time in Northern Ireland, you did not need to supply any birth father information at the time of birth, so that was left blank on his birth certificate (no father is listed). His mother is deceased, and no other relative knows the missing info.

Any answers or opinions on how he should fill out the G-325A? The options seem to be to write "UNKNOWN" for the name and birth date of his father, or to just make an educated guess at both.

We are leaning towards "UNKNOWN", but we are afraid it will raise flags and result in the denial of our application. :(

Help!!

If I remember correctly, the instructions say "if known." Am I correct? If that's the case, writing "Unknown" seems to be the way to go.
