Why did you wait until almost march of the year after you were married to file?

Had you filed in January after your marriage, you probably WOULD be together now.

hardly.

First of all it takes a good month or so to get the marriage certificate from the ministry of justice in Cairo, then get it translated and send it and then receive it in the US. That brings us to late January. Sure if she had everything together she could have maybe filed in Feb but who knows with Cairo. That government is so disorganized I'm shocked we're not still waiting for our marriage certificate almost a year later. Plus, even if she could file then that totally doesn't guarantee he'd be here. We have many people still waiting for the visa more than 9 months after the interview. I'm in Admin Processing going on 4 1/2 months after our interview and I got married Dec 28 and filed the last day of January. The OP came here for support because she is sad about missing her anniversary. I don't think it's productive to find fault with what she did as far as the process, especially if you have no idea what you're talking about.

We will spend our first anniversary, Eid and New Years apart. It will suck but I will just put one foot in front of the other and try my hardest to not focus on how Cairo's disorganization is ruining my life.

hello all, i hope all is well with everyone!!

this is the most difficult time of the yearrrr...with all the holidays just around the corner [Eid, Christmas, etc..], it makes it more difficult and more depressing to be away from our loved ones... :(

my husband and i got married on the second day of Eid last year....we thought we'd be together by our first anniversary... =( unfortunately not... :crying:

anyway, so i figured i'm not the only one that's dealing with this and we could help each other get through this tough time.. :(

take care! :)

happy holidays everyone!

all the best!!..

(L)

I'm sorry to hear that hon, I'll be away from my husband too :( Just think that you are gonna be spending all of the holidays and anniversaries together for the rest of your life. You'll be together forever :)

Happy holidays and stay strong

thanks for all your support guys!! i really appreciate it!! :)

i'm going to reply to everyone without quoting...sorry :)

we got married on december 31st--new year's eve.....we tried to start the paper work right away, because the rules changed on jan 1st and i was required to file the papers from the US....i didnt return to the US until the end of january and when i got back to the US, i was extremely depressed and i could barely function well enough to get all those crazy papers together, plus, i had begun my semester at college...so it was really tough...i mailed everything out on feb 28th and they received it on march 1st......

and regardless, with the embassy in cairo...he would not have been here by now, even if i filed 6 months earlier......unfortunately :(

[thanks bridget!! ;):) ]

i wish i could respond to each and every one of you...but i'm in the middle of writing a final paper......so i'll do that in 2 weeks when i'm off from school!! ....but, being off from school means spending more time at home constantly being reminded that i'm not with my husband... :(:crying: ....i'm just praying for the patience and strength to get through this tough time......

i'm sorry to everyone who's going through this and everyone who's been going through this longer than me...take care all.........all the best..

thanks again!! (L)

There’s a waltz in my walk

And it’s been such a long time

Since there was hope in my talk

If you never knew

What it is that’s new.. it’s you

‘Cause when your hands are in mine

You set a fire that everyone can see

And it’s burning away

Every bad memory

To tell you the truth

If it’s something new.. baby it’s you

It’s you in the morning

It’s you in the night

A beautiful angel came down

To light up my life

The world’s a different place

Where nothing’s too hard to say

And nothing’s too hard to do

Never too much to go through

To tell you the truth

Everything that’s new.. baby it’s you

It’s you in the morning

It’s you in the night

A beautiful angel came down

To light up my life

My life, my life

Ohh

So if I get to grow old (oh if I get to grow old)

With many years behind me (many years behind me)

There’s only one thing I want (aahh)

One thing I need beside me

For all that you are

For everything you do

For all that you’ve done

Just for showing me the truth

You are doing the best thing you could possibly do right now and that is keeping yourself busy with other things! I do dread the holidays now BUT at the same time the scrambling to get everything done is keeping my mind somewhat off of the fact that my husband still isn't here. :)

believe me.. your not the first (unfortunatley)

My husband and I also spent our first anniversary apart. It was on November 19th, just a month ago. We didn't think it would be this way... but what can you do. On top of that I spent almost my entire [7 months of it] pregnancy without my husband and this is our first baby :(

Just hoping this all could end soon

:( i'm sorry to hear that...you'd think that they'd be a little more considerate when there's a baby involved...ugh!! it's funny, because i was just talking to my husband about that...we were wondering, if i was pregnant...would the paperwork have gone faster?? guess not..

good luck with everything!! i hope you're together soon!! take care.. (L)

I have delayed filing as well and am sure I will regret it but ke garne? what to do? We had some issues come up which I have recounted here, in the beginning we were not even sure if we would be living here or in Nepal or maybe even in another country. My housing situation is not good and that is an issue we will have to deal with down the road. Regardless of how far the visa process is by then we have definite plans to spend our first anniversary together in Nepal - I am hoping he will also have his interview by then so I can be there with him but am not counting on it too much at this point. I am waiting for my maya to send me his signed forms back and I am hoping to file around New Year's.

:luv: It's easy for most of us to say "that things will be better" or "don't worry s/he will be home soon"...however, although you are not with your spouse at this time of year, your relationship with your spouse just gets better each day.
