Thought I'd continue our AP thread. Does anyone have any updates? Visas issued? New people wanting to be added to the list? This list is for those of us going through Cairo who are waiting after the interview for the visa to be issued.

10/05/2006 filled :)

05/03/2007 interview -> AP -> hell -> AP -> 9 months of AP Hell - 2 home visits :(

01/26/2008 visa in hand with a typo :(

02/03/2008 2 weeks more of waiting.... Visa in hand...... :)

2/20/2008 on US soil :)

2/21/2008 marriage :)

03/12/2008 Sent AOS/Work/Travel

03/16/2008 shows delivered chicago

4/12/2008 check cashed :)

4/13/2008 NOA's for all 3

4/18/2008 bio letter

4/29/2008 bio appt.

5/06/2008 RFE 2007 tax return

5/07/2008 returned RFE overnight

5/08/2008 received-lees summit

5/12/08 case updated online/RFE received

5/27/08 checked the website for the third time today -says AP and EAD approval letter sent 5/24- it was not updated online till today - and no e-mail update either

5/27/08 emails sent in afternoon AP and EAD approvals

5/29/08 AP touch

5/29/08 email EAD card production ordered

6/02/08 AP in hand

6/03/08 email EAD card mailed

6/05/08 EAD card in hand :)

7/28/08 AOS letter received

9/02/08 AOS interview

9/10/08 card production ordered email :)

9/17/08 welcome letter email and snail mail arrive same day

9/19/08 Greencard in hand :)

So basically, if we go through the security check and are issued a visa fairly soon after its completion, we are good to go. However, if Cairo holds on to it...they are going to investigate further because they doubt the validity of the relationship and we COULD be denied after that huge wait. Thats ridiculous. If I have years of proof of an on going relationship...on going contact, multiple visits...that should be all the proof they require. I can maybe understand if you met online, then 2 months later went to egypt, then immediately filed a K1 or k3. But for many of us..this just isn't the case...

How many here that are on this LONG AP have age gaps, short courtships, few meetings or fast petitions????

I'm 7 years older than him.

Our courtship, albeit online, was approx 9 months, though they never even asked what date we started talking to each other.

I have only gone to Egypt twice.

I don't know what you mean by fast petitions but I filed a month after we were married. I would have filed the day after but it took that long to get the marriage certificate, get it translated and transport it from Cairo to Boston. I don't think filing a petition quickly would be a sign post since you want to get on with your life asap but maybe that's a factor. Who the hell knows at this point. Maybe he'll be here by this summer. :(

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

....i just came to the mena forum to start up a topic asking if anyone going through cairo received their visa shortly after the interview and what their case was like...hehe...

i wish everyone all the best!! my husband's interview is in a few days!! i really hope all goes well!! :unsure:

Bridget don't forget Tamara and Adam got their Visa and his flight to USA is January 9th 2008!!!!!! Thank God!!!!!

our interview was the morning of the 6th and !!!!thank God!!!! we were approved!! he should be receiving the visa in about 2 weeks, god willing!!!!!! i really hope it only takes that long!!
