Do I need to take the NOA2 to the inteview? Its in the US, at malia's mother's house. I'd better get it sent over pronto if I need it, otherwise it'll get caught up in the christmas mess

And can malia come to the interview with me? Is it allowed/recommended? It'd be a lot more simple than taking evidence of an ongoing relationship if the interviewer could here it straight from the fiancee

You need the approval NOA to do AOS so make sure it is in a safe place. It will depend on the interviewing officer if the USC can be at the interview but the USC can certainly go in the embassy.

You will need your original birth certificate. I was never asked for my husband's birth certificate at my K1 interview, but I was told that a copy would be enough if I had needed it.

As for Malia coming to the interview with you, I'm not sure but I would say that it would likely not be allowed. They make it clear that due to seating restrictions you should only bring someone if you need them for the interview or to help you with any special needs.... you will have to present your letter/ noa and passport before entering the embassy and go through security to be let in, so I doubt they would let an extra person in who doesn't have an appointment.

She could come with you to London and then arrange to meet you somewhere a couple of hours after the interview. Bear in mind that if you take your mobile, you will have to leave it at security before you enter the embassy building.

You should probably call the embassy to check for sure whether Malia could come into the embassy with you, as I could be wrong

You do not need either for interview, US Citizen proved citizenship to USCIS by sending birth cert to them, the approved K-1 application results. And the consulate is interviewing for a K-1 visa, so they do not need the approval letter.

You will need the NOA2 Approval latter later after marriage, you send a copy of it in with the adjustment of status petition.

I was allowed into the embassy and up at the counter for my husband's interview in London. But perhaps that was different because we are married and it was for a CR1. Also, for immigrant visas, there's a form called the DS-230, and I wrote a note on there saying I would be accompanying my husband to the embassy.

I think its probably best if I go on my own. I'll leave malia in a nearby pub, perhaps, although 9am is a shade early...

Despite my interview being ages away, I can already feel that small knot of nervous excitement in my belly. After all this time of the visa process being something happening in the background, its suddenly moving to the foreground, becoming more real day by day.

From what I've read, others have been allowed to bring their fiance's into the interviews with them, but I'd still call and double check.

I went with Russ to the K-1 interview - January 31st, 2006. All in all it was a painless process and the actual interview was about five minutes long, maybe less.

I plan on attending the CR-1 interview with him next month (fingers crossed). I hope it goes as well as the K-1 did!

It is still a good idea to take relationship evidence with you regardless of whether or not your fiancee will accompany you.
