AOS List ?

ok we just got married on the first still waiting for the marriage certificate , to be able to go and file for SSN ( never filled for one yet , wanted to waite and file under marriage name )

, joint bank account . appartment lease and other required things ,

I already filled out the

I-485

G-325A

I-765

I-131 and

I-864 applications , ( is it ok to send same suporting letter as we send for K1 , the employer letter and bank letter ? )

I have the I-693A

and will make copies of the passport I know I need to copy the aproval I 129 F , and 6 passport photos I like to know if there is anything else I need to send ,

( if someone could give me a detaild list containing everything in the package I would apriciate it )

also the correct adress where to mail it too.

and is there a timelimite to send out the AOS package ? ,

( as collecting effidance like being added to bankaccount and other things will take a lil time they require SSN wich will probly take up to 10 days after applied for )

About the marriage certificate, we waited for 2 weeks for ours before we realized that they weren't going to send it to us - we actually had to go to the place to get it ourselvess. It cost $10 for a copy and we got two so we could send an original in the AOS package and keep one for ourselves. Might be different in your state though!

I did make a few photocopies of my passport... already sent my package though so I can't remember exactly what was asked for... we had to read over the instructions a few times because they were so long and it was so easy to miss things!

The correct address is the Chicago address listed in the I-485 form.

I don't think there is a timeline for sending the AOS package but we decided to try to do ours as soon as possible! It did take us a lot longer than we wanted but... at least it's sent now!

The marriage certificate will not help you with the SSN. If the I-94 has expired you will need something from the USCIS to show legal status.

I just followed the guide here on VJ and had no problems.

Why don't you just go through the guides on VJ - they are really helpful - and in addition to that highlight all the requirements (what to send in) in the I-485 instructions. That way you'll make sure you won't miss anything.

From your list I'd say you got all the forms you need and I figure you have a copy of your birth certificate, the visa in your passport and the I-94?

As for the I-864... doesn't hurt to add employer letter, pay stubs and bank statements (they say so on the instructions as well), but make sure you have the tax returns and W-2 for the most recent tax year in the package!

There is no timeline on when to file for AOS, as long as you got married within 90 days after entering the US on a K1 you are fine - but of course, the faster you send it off, the sooner you will become a permanent resident and be done with all the paperwork.

I had the same idea about applying for SSN after the marriage so I wouldn't have to change the name on the card later on and guess what - they refused to issue me one because they considered my K1/I-94 as not valid anymore (although it didn't expire until about 4 weeks later) due to my marriage. The marriage certificate will not help you out at all here. They couldn't figure out my status in the US and told me to come back with an official USCIS document (EAD or Greencard) so that's what I did... got my SSN about 80 days later when I had my EAD in the mail.

I'm not 100% sure but I think it's supposed to be the original since that is a certified copy! I could be wrong, but we didn't want to take a chance since it is what proved the marriage was legal and everything

A Photo copy is fine.

USCIS no longer routinely requires submission of original documents or "certified copies." Instead, ordinary legible photocopies of such documents (including naturalization certificates and alien registration cards) will be acceptable for initial filing and approval of petitions and applications.
