after waitin on them to send me something since May today my case was updated ..

On December 6, 2007, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence and/or information in this case. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the evidence and/or information requested. This case will be held in suspense until we either receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once you submit the information and/or evidence requested, you will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something further from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service.

We got an RFE for supporting tax documents for our I-864s.. W-2s and 1099s, and for proof of citizenship or perminent residence status of our co-sponsor.

You may feel like "shooting yourself in the face" after so much time has passed but I might be glad if I were you as it could mean that they have finally started to work on your case. It could mean that once you reply to the RFE, you could start getting results relatively quickly. I certainly hope so anyway... Good luck!

Yes, most of the RFEs for AOS seem to deal with tax info or co-sponsors. Our RFE took 10 days to come from the time we got the email (but that was during the K1 process, we didn't get an RFE for AOS).

Good luck with getting that pesky RFE quickly, in the meantime, get together your tax info and co-sponsor info (if you have one), so you can send it in immediately.

Lately people have been getting AOS RFEs for stuff already sent in, I guess USCIS lost it :( . So they just send copies again of the same thing, then they get approved.

Advice: When you get the RFE get your evidence in RIGHT AWAY! I waited 45 days (laziness, delays from IRS etc) and I paid for it thats for sure.

what do they usually ask for? im curious

They asked us for more evidence of current income (more pay stubs) - there is more than one way to qualify that you have sufficient income.

I feel Good...........like the moon is shining just for me!

If you can't think of anything you KNOW you missed in original application... stay calm and wait for the letter to arrive. In the meantime, maybe go through copy of what you sent, remind yourself (it was a while ago) - so you are more prepared.

Don't panic if they ask you for something you definitely sent... just make another copy and send it again straight away so you don't lose any more time.

If I were in your shoes though, I would be updating income info... paystubs, bank statements, IRS (if you filed latest tax return after original appl time) - if RFE is not for that - you will need it all for AOS interview which now could be soon! Good luck!

Stay calm. :) If I had to bet I'd bet that they want more financial information, but you won't know until it gets here. And it might not even have been a problem with your package. They seem to lose stuff often enough.

And now you know they're working on it, at least.

I'm sorry to hear of your RFE - especially in the stage that you're at. It sucks. I know - I have received an RFE 10 days ago and still havn't received the letter to find out what the heck it's about. I hate this waiting and watching all of the other July filers getting approved one by one while mine just slips away. I know exactly how you feel - it's like a punch in the gut. Hang in there - I'm thinking of you....
