yes.. but my question is, does everybody needs to pay that? even my documents are not late registered?

The directions say normally and strongly encourages , which should mean everyone is not required. It will take time to determine how may petitioners will be required to pay for this check. I understand having another expense added is disheartening, but I think the real question is, " Is it worth saving 16 dollars to take a chance on the visa being delayed two weeks?"

On the very last paragraph of the link above, there is also the verification of the petitioner's whereabouts. Is this a new policy aside from NSO verification we will pay at Metrobank?

Guys I need to repost it to get more opinions.

Well I don't feel so bad now. It is showing that was updated on 12/04/2007

Well the instructions I got over the phone worked too

Did you or your beneficiary pay yet at Metrobank? I plan to this Monday or Tuesday.. its payday for my fiance on Monday.. and I hope she can get this done since we have a problem too as her Mothers name on the birth certificate isnt complete... My fiance's mother has the name correct on her birth certificate but not on my fiance's birth certificate... My fiance says it could take up to 2 months to fix this problem as it has to be fixed at the local registar before NSO can change it... I dont know what the local registar is.. anyone got a clue?

The local registrar would be like the county clerk here. You would need the local registrar where the birth was originally resgistered.

Ok thanks for that info.

yes.. but my question is, does everybody needs to pay that? even my documents are not late registered?

It looks to me as if the fee is 650 PHP per person.

In order to avoid unnecessary delay in the visa issuance process, the U.S. Embassy in Manila strongly encourages applicants in the categories mentioned above to pay the document verification fee prior to their immigrant visa interview. Payment can be made through any Metrobank location. The cost of the document verification is P650 per applicant. For specific instructions on how to pay the document verification fee, please click here. If you are unable to pay for the document verification before your immigrant visa interview, you may be asked to pay the fee on the day of your interview. Please note that if you pay on the day of your interview, there will be a delay of one to two weeks in the processing of your application.

If the embassy is now giving out this new information, I would hope that those who start receiving new appointment dates would start getting the information in their packets. Maybe those who get Feb. appointment dates will start getting it. We will find out soon. I'm like Tim Y and will have my wife pay the fee even though our appointment was scheduled before the 12/4 posting date. Even though we have plenty of time from when I get there to my departure date, I'm sure we will both sleep better if we get approved and requested to pay Delbros for the delivery fee at the interview.

hello my VJ family. well, first of all, i wanna thank Tim Y for this very informative and helpful post.

as for my interpretation on this issue, i think, the payment is to avoid the delay of the visa issuances that will give an additional (approximately) 2 weeks for the verification of the nso documents. if you want to avoid it, you can pay the P650 fee before the interview.

after i read this post, i called the immigrant visa unit at the us embassy here in manila and verified this information that i saw from their website. and the lady told me that i need to pay that P650 verification fee in order to avoid the delay for the visa issuances. and as far as i can remember, if you didnt pay this fee prior to your interview, you have to pay for this one after the visa interview. but i'm not pretty sure with this part.

what will i do now is to pay this fee soon and follow the instructions and bring the payment slip during my interview.. it's always better to be prepared than sorry.

thanks and God bless us all.

i feel bad for the people applying for their immigrant visas who are not aware of this information. i hope we can do something to help them....

On the very last paragraph of the link above, there is also the verification of the petitioner's whereabouts. Is this a new policy aside from NSO verification we will pay at Metrobank?

Guys I need to repost it to get more opinions.

No offense, but if you read the paragraph it starts with "If the consular officer needs verification...". That means its not always going to happen and will be at the officer's discretion. I suspect this is because there are occasions that they suspect some form of fraud is occuring (e.g. the petitioner is dead) or perhaps question where the petitioner is (e.g. NOT in US).

This doesn't appear to be a requirement, just something that might be asked on occasion.

The reason they are verifying NSO certificates is because of the number of counterfeit certificates that are being presented. I think that most of us will pay in advance in order to try and make sure everything the embassy wants is there at the time of our interview. Is it worth 650 PHP to take a chance on your visa being held up for 2 weeks?
