Hi...new to all of this...I'm from Nevada and my gf from Canada, we plan on marrying soon and beginning our lives living together under one roof.....trouble is which process to go thru. Which is the quicker way...K1 or K3. We are both middle aged, with established careers. She has custody of 3 younger children (well younger than mine which are in their 20's) and would want them to move to the US once married. We've been together over 3 years and don't relish the idea of spending 18 mos or more waiting to be together. Can anyone give us an idea which route is quicker? I understand we mustn't marry while undergoing the K1 process, this is fine. We'd like to be able to continue seeing each other as frequent as we do without delay (every 6 or 8 weeks). Any suggestions and advice is truly welcome. Thanks! Tomlo

K-1 seems to be marginally faster at the moment. But the biggest advantage of filing K-1 is that you don't have to wait until you're married to file, so that would probably save you a little time right there.

Take a look a the guides though, and see which one works for you. If you've got any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Good luck!

Welcome. Indeed, :guides: so you can check out your options.

Both K types will result in a NON -immigrant visa though, and you will have to undergo Adjustment of Status once in the US (which I've heard is a pain and really expensive). If you get married, file for a CR-1; this one gives you an immigrant visa. AND the waiting times for an interview in Canada are give or take the same (4-6 months), unless you get assigned to the Vancouver consulate (K visas only me thinkkkssss).

Good luck, L.
