I've been reading a lot about people from all over the US having their AOS files transferred to CSC and then being approved by mail without an interview. Since we currently live in CA, will we 100% have an interview? Or is it also possible to get an approval without going in?

It depends on your case, has nothing to do with living in CA. The CSC doesn't do interviews - if it's determined you don't need one, you'll be sent to CSC, but if you have an interview it'll be at a local office.

I live in California, the biometrics were completed in Nevada, the AOS mailed in and the CG showed up in the mail. He was given a work permit at the airport in NYC, applied for social security card within a few weeks of arriving and received that in the mail too. Bank of America didn't ask for documentation to add him to my bank account either. Then no interview at all. I have never been asked to supply additional information on the relationship, support or many of the other challenges some couples seem to experience. So I guess each case is individual and it seems to depend on the person handling the paperwork. Wish you the same.

well so far we've had an easy of a run as you! temp ead in nyc, social security card was easy, and adding him to a credit card and bank account was also easy. i just hope we don't have an interview for the GC and i'll be soooooooooooo happy!:wacko::wacko:

Maybe California has its hands full with other things, so if you have all of your information they don't sweat it. Each time I have gone to the USCIS office in San Francisco, it has always been empty and the workers chatting behind their glass walls. I have never stayed there longer than 30 min.

The interview is generally not a big deal, though, so I wouldn't stress about it too much. People who have adjusted from VWP/B-2's have very few issues generally, so for a K-1 any interview tends to be pretty simple unless they suspect fraud.

*crosses fingers we won't need one!

Look up your local office. It's pretty much decided strictly according to backlog as near as anyone can tell. We suspected we'd be transferred when we saw that instead of the standard boilerplate 'six months processing time' it was April 2007 for processing dates.

Does not matter where you live, only if your case is transferred to CSC and even if you are in CA you more than likely will not have an interview if transferred to CSC.

There are quite a few local offices in California that handle interviews, it is just the service centre that doesn't (CSC). The service centre is not the same thing as a local office. Just because you live in Cali does not mean that you automatically have no interview. I know of a few VJers who reside in Cali that have had interviews recently.

Righttttttttttttttttt, if if goes to CSC even if he or she lives in California makes no difference, the fact of matter is it is separate from normal interview process at local USCIS office, thus there is a high probability the OP will not have an interview even if transferred and living in California.
