nor do i think much of the spouses not being invited. bleh.

I've never been to a holiday party where spouses were invited.

i don't go to parties without the wifey. i won't even go to the local hooters with the rest of the people at work because she's not with me.

That is odd (no spouses invited) unless it's more like a company meeting in a friendlier setting. Seems way too corporate for my taste.

Our holiday party is one evening the week after next. I'll be taking the last two weeks of December off though, so I'm definitely not dragging my a$$ back out here for some hors d'oeuvres and bad wine!

Why do you think they planned it for then???? That is shady!

We have a few parties. Normally our company hosts a huge one but they decided to only do that every other year and instead use the money to distribute to the various large areas.

We'll have one that is very big with all corporate finance peeps, catered, open bar and a nice raffle. I won a ps2 one year and a friend of mine won two roundtrip tickets to anywhere in the US. I"d love to win a Wii for my girls this year!

Then our department boss will take us to lunch. We normally do a grab but we all voted against it this year since it's just one more thing to do in this busy season.

well, ive only been at my job since june, and this thread got me wondering about the holiday party situation...i asked my coworker and she told me that we go out to a restaurant for lunch (and leave the office unattended, how scandalous)...ive also inquired about bonuses, so i guess they will be distributed at that time...my company is very small (about 15 of us), so i think itll be just fine...most people are very nice, and the one or two who arent very nice to work with are indeed very nice in a social setting...does that make sense?

anyway, im in it for the bonus, AND we get out of work for a little while :thumbs:

Thank you....employee #6213590.

I'm actually very happy here, all the stereotypes about corporations notwithstanding.

Now, I've worked for other corporations where I really did feel like a number. Not where I am now, though. I am appreciated here on a personal level and rewarded in the only way that matters. That's all you need, really. A thank you and a bonus.

Amen to that. Small companies have their drawbacks as well....like everyone seemingly knowing way too much about one another's personal lives.

I don't get any bonus, not even a jelly-of-the-month club subscription.

see thats the crappy part about the 100,000.00 winnings, only 11 win, but the rest of the company gets a dinner. i think half of that should be split amongst the 400 employees we have

Employers who don't reward individuals based on their contribution suck :(

I hope to never work for a company that didn't have a variable incentive program. Well, not unless I have to.

What sucks is the 11 are selected randomly. The 11 should be the 11 who the employer would hate the most to lose. JMHO.
