Today, I found out that I got a prestigious internship in California for the summer. A certain professor of mine wouldn't recommend me for the internship. She said she had a policy of only recommending students who have had several similar prestigious internships before, in order to protect her "reputation," and so couldn't help me. (For the record, I think this professor, whom I have suffered all semester, is an aging bimbo, and I have no idea how she secured her job.)

The question is, how do I best rub in her face that I got it? Just one sentence? Veiled sarcasm? Of course, I have to be professional about the whole thing, so it has to be pretty subtle. I will see her for what might be the last time tomorrow, so I want to send it out tonight.

congrats on the job, but if you need some ideas i can always dig thru my bag of dirty tricks :D

I don't see how letting her know I got the internship is not taking the high road. There's nothing morally compromising about it, and they told the class once to let them know if they got any internships.

She probably won't find out I got the internship unless I tell her, except by chance. I almost never do things like this, and I'm always the person to say "oh forget it, I don't need to hit back" in my life, and this time I want this woman to know I got this internship.

You mentioned wanting to write an email to your two professors announcing you had got the internship. Go ahead and do that. You can then thank the Professor who didn't recommend you for advising you about the Internship's availability and thanking the other Professor for his support of your application. It won't come across as snarky and it is taking the high road by thanking each for what they did do. You don't need to rub her face in it -she will get the point that she didn't support your application and you still got the Internship. Congratulations.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Send an email to ALL your professors, thanking them for their help this semester and wishing them best for the future. Make sure Trelawney (lol) is in the list. Or write a thank you card out, addressed to all.
