I was thinking I'd do option 2. It doesn't seem you need receipts. But what are you supposed to put as the reason for your travel if you were actually living overseas? It's not technically business travel (it's not like a company was paying for my expenses) and it wasn't vacation...

Yes there was, IIRC. I guess I'll just check that. I'm really suspicious that they don't need to see any receipts.

I guess you might expect that a lot of people will get audited - probably processing receipts is too much hassle and they probably only sent forms to people they knew were eligible. This is what I am guessing anyway.

I got this as well - have to calculate how much I spent when I was there. I used my debit card pretty heavily, mostly to take out cash.
