Copies of photos vs. original photos?

What's everyone's experience of sending in photos as supporting evidence?

Do you send original prints only? Can you photocopy pictures? Only color photocopy pictures? If you were to photocopy pictures, could you put more than one picture per photocopied page?

And then, how exactly should they be marked? I'm pretty sure that the majority of the pictures we're looking to submit DO NOT have the correct timestamp on the front picture due to the camera's clock never being properly set and hardly any pictures have any kind of "developed on" timestamp on the back either. Do the passport photos need to be marked on the back by the developer with a date and maybe even the company's name? (We realize that the photos need to be labelled on the back by us with our names) :bonk:

Last, if for some reason I did send in original prints, would I have to have duplicate original prints as well so as to be able to produce them in case of RFE's or if requested at the interview?

Thaaaaaaanks!

Digital pictures is what I used too. Between the wedding, reception and 6 weeks in the Philippines my first trip, we had over 600 pictures to choose from. I made a new folder and selected pictures from the wedding, with her family and just us together in various locations and copied them into the new folder. I used Walgreen's because I could upload the pics to their site and 2 hours after sending I got an e-mail that the printed pics were ready to be picked up at my local store (they will also mail them to you). With sales tax, it was still under $6 for the 28 pics in 4"x6" size.

We just made a Word document and inserted the .jpg picture files. Printed with a color printer, and it looked very nice! That way we could add a bit of text also.

:)

I am sending originals - just ordered a duplicate set from photobucket. Will probably send about 10-15 with the original petition including wedding pics, engagement party, photos with his family, etc. Will submit many more when it comes time for the interview - we took about 800 pics total but most do not show the both of us together so don't know how useful they would be.

If those originals are the only ones you have, then the photocopies might be what you'll have to do. If they are lost in transit, then you won't have anything else to show. Can you get a hold of the negatives or the digital card?

The longer it takes to introduce yourself the less you've actually accomplished

I think this is the best option -- that way you can include the date, event, people in the picture, etc.

Remember, the easier you make it for whomever reviews your file, the easier things will go.

Good luck, L.
