Sounds like a really daft idea to me. Lets inundate them with all these extra calls from congressmen and whoever all the time taking them away from processing the applications.

Now while that might speed a few up who manage that way to jump the queue most will take longer. The only way to speed them all up is to recruit and train more staff and that takes quite a time, which as the extra delays seem to have been caused by the unexpectedly large number of applications submitted before the fee increase is really an effective solution.

Just for the record, there are plenty of K1's who don't have NOA1 receipts that are 60-90 days old.

And even if they DO, their cases are taking 5 to 8 months to process. Is that the landspeed record you are looking for?

How about the 17 months it took for my husband to get his greencard? Or the other AOS people who have been waiting two, three and four YEARS for greencards?

The problem is widespread at the moment. It's not just I-130's.

Naturalization petitions are taking 12-18 months.

I know you want to think you're special, but you aren't.

It's the same thing that happened with passports. Everyone put things off until the last minute, this time to beat the fee increase...which didn't save them much because after the initial application they will be paying the new fees.

On to congress. Between Congress and the president they haven't passed several appropriation bills, provided for children's health insurance, settled on any policy in Iraq, renewed relief for alternative minimum tax, passed a farm bill, done anything about the falling dollar, done anything to alleviate the mortgage crunch, and on and on ad naseum. But they still have 3 weeks to go this year, so I"m sure they'll be glad to stop doing what they are doing because your application is taking too long.

As you might have expected, the ones which have nothing constructive to add try to persuade others that there is we can or should do. This seems to be a problem that one who already has thier S.O. with them, by whatever means they chose would not be concerned with. However, this site has become a very popular place for some egotistical, judgmental people to jump in. I was very recently a victim of such. It is beyond comprehension. If the people here do not have some Knowledge of what you are trying to do, maybe it would be better if they found another passtime. Opinions, everyone has them but they are not generally expressed as such... When we attack each others ideas with negativity it only clouds the issuses. I may be wrong, but, IN MY OPINION, is it not all of us trying to bring our loved ones here. If not then maybe I am needing to look for another place for OPINIONS...John&Jean

Maybe you should.

Here's an opinion based in fact - many of you are experiencing painful excessive delays right now. Are you the first such group of people to go through this? No. Will you be the last? No.

Call your Congressperson. I'm all for that. But don't ask for certain cases to be pushed AHEAD of others. That's entitlement.

rebeccajo - I just noticed your siggy about your K1 process "107 days - shorter than most" so I'm not surprised that you're being negative about Marlita's thread. Sure the AOS period takes a long time, but at least you have your SO in your physical presence.

This thread is in the CR1 section for a reason.

Does that mean because I filed a K1 for my husband that I shouldn't post over here? Does that mean because his visa took 107 days I shouldn't comment? Do you have any idea HOW many times I've heard that comment before - because we weren't separated as long as others that we couldn't possibly understand?

I'm going to ask you two questions, marie. First, how do you come to the conclusion that I am being NEGATIVE? And secondly, how do you come to the conclusion that because I wasn't separated from my SO as long as others, that I don't understand the system or the problems you are experiencing?

I am with my loved one now, but I like the rest, had to take my turn and patiently wait in line. Why do you feel your applications should take priority over all others? I'm talking in general, not in reference to me. Everyone filed before the fee increase and has to wait much longer to get NOA1s, but they aren't posting like Marlita to hault other applications.

Get your congressmen involved, do whatever it takes. But waiting long times is hard on everyone, not just you.

Let us all know what your congressmen say when you tell them to hault all other application processing because you believe yours comes first. I'd like to hear their response.

I think the point of the OP is that the I-130s have been put on a shelf to process all the other applications. That is what is, and remains, unfair. K-1's are being processed... K-3 seems to be ahead... N-400s are up to date, it seems to be only the I-130s that haven't been processed at all, in over 6 weeks. I take my data from the weekly USCIS processing delay updates. I have a link to the list of the forms being processed in my blog (see link in signature).

Not really interested nor could care less about this or that, case is this: Process as received PERIOD. That is not happening and that is point being made.

K1, N400 ASO whatever, but again, their website states Process in order of receiving and as you or anyone can see, that IS NOT THE CASE - hence the problem of tyring to decipher what is going on. Or at least for me.

I will continue to do what I must to have MY HUSBAND here and if it means meeting my senator, my congress person, so be it. If it takes away from an Immigation Adj, then thats the luck of the draw but I do not think thats the road I am going for. I am just fighting to have the system somewhat balanced out and getting a fkn NOA! receipt. The rest I am willing to wait for as their guidelines post, but waiting this long as others are and not knowing what the heck or where the heck things are....different story with differnt action.

Cheers

Thank you Rebecca! This is exactly what I meant!

All applications received are being processed, some faster some slower. But requesting for all others to be halted and only I-130s processed is ridiculous, and that's what I'm getting at. Marlita states she didnt say that, but on all pages her comments are in BOLD about her request to halt all other applications except I-130s.

If you believe your case is being held up for inappropriate reasons, then YOU go contact whomever you deem appropriate, do whatever is in your power to make it move faster to bring your loved one home. But do so for your case. Instead of making comments about all of USCIS to stop processing the rest of the worlds cases because only I-130 are more important. Just like a fiance is separated, so is a wife or husband. Wait times vary across the board.

Also I dont believe anyone is attacking anyone here, these are our opinions, whether we applied for a K1, AOS, CR-1 or whatever.

Calling on halt of all applications to get yours process is called what?

If you are not prepared for people to express opinions that disagree with you point of view then why are you here. Most people here at some time of other have endured a separation before both of us got to live together. If we don't like the way the US does things and think it takes to long we have a choice to live in the other partners country. I'm sure that the people processing the applications do so as quickly as possible having a lot of congressmen breathing down their necks will do nothing to help all the people waiting just the selfish few who think they are a special case.

I'd like to give Marlita the benefit of the doubt and look at the intent behind her words.

It seems to me that what she would like is to see I-130's start to get processed once more. It's clear that they haven't processed any for some time, with the dates not having changed for a couple of months. It's clear that they've worked on some applications.

Marlita - it's likely USCIS is working through a systematic process to try and clear backlogs by going through each type in turn. I have every hope that soon they will start the I-130 processing and get all those frustrated people waiting for some notification that their mail made it to the right place some news.

If you'd like to get in touch with your congressman I'd say go for it. It'd be better to choose your wording more carefully and focus on the problem - USCIS are behind in processing. Definitely don't ask them to put some applications aside in favor of others.

I don't think anyone thinks they're more important in their need to be with their loved ones than anyone else. Those of you who have been through this separation will remember how frustrating it is, and how that frustration can lead you to express yourself or your opinions in a way you didn't mean. Yes Marlita did use the word 'halted', she later said that's not what she meant.

It's great to see conversation on the board, it's also great to see differing opinions, and support, or suggestions for change. Hopefully Marlita can find a constructive way to approach her congressman and maybe help[ effect some change for us all.

(As for no one is attacking anyone - I don't think telling someone their selfish and think they're a special case is that vague)
