OT...but I finally saw Bewulf a couple of weeks ago. Grendel was pretty cool, but the rest was uninspiring.

OT...but I finally saw Bewulf a couple of weeks ago. Grendel was pretty cool, but the rest was uninspiring.

The animation is the biggest problem for me. That and the weird Austin Powers thing with the nudity. Beowulf is supposed to be dark and savage, not campy.

I did like the ending though.

I saw the movie today - liked it, but I don't think it was paced very well. The action moves so fast, each time a new character is introduced you barely get away from "hello, I am..." before we're on to the next scene. Daniel Craig had... what... two scenes in the whole movie, as did Eva Green. I wanted to like it but I found the experience strangely uninvolving and a bit forced.

Chronicles of Narnia had the same problem IMO, and to some extent LOTR did too - though with Lord of the Rings they could get away with it because they had 4 hours of screen-time for each movie.

That said it was competently directed - and I liked the production design, with the airships and the electric carriages.

That thing with the Bear King got a few gasps from the kids in the back row...
