Xmas Crackers?

well, sometimes, with Christmas crackers, 'good' is relative ;)

I was seriously tempted by the ones with the little wind-up Santa sleighs, for racing, that I saw in John Lewis yesterday... I bought the 'proper' ones in the end, but I have a suspicion it was the wrong choice ;)

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

Thanks for the link - I have never found any in the South either. My husband was introduced to them for the first time when we went back to Canada last year to spend Christmas with my brother and his family near Ottawa. He liked getting the purple crown hat but said that meant he should be sitting at the head of the table instead of my brother! It was fun:-).

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

The crowns are the best part! I haven't seen them anywhere here, but I don't shop at Costco either. I'll keep looking...

I'm spending Christmas with my cousins and some friends, and we agreed to do no gifts... with that in mind I thought I might spend a little more on the crackers, so the other day I stopped in at Fortnum & Mason on Piccadilly

well, they START at £50 for 6 (go up to £150 for 6 :o ) and weren't really what we wanted... amusing to look at the range though; the funniest bit was the description on the back, which said something like 'each contains: an item of amusing headgear...'

if it's 'amusing headgear' and not just a paper hat, then I don't want anything to do with it ;)

I was at World Market last weekend (in the south I might add) and they had a bunch. I didn't get any though because they were $12.99 for 8, which I though was a bit too much to spend. I might go back in a couple of weeks to see if they've gone on sale closer to the holiday. If they don't reduce the price, I guess we'll just go without. I'll have to call the store first, its more than an hour away, and the half tank of gas it takes to get there and back kind of defeats the purpose of waiting for a sale :P

I HAVE seen them down here in Staples a few years ago. Maybe 4 or 5 years ago, but I haven't seen them since. That was before I moved here, and I always brought them with me from home when I came to visit.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

Anyone know where I can buy Christmas Crackers from in USA ( apart from having to trek to Canada ) - has anyone seen these in USA?

Wanted to share the custom with my new american relatives!

I saw some Christmas Crackers in the HomeGoods discount store, and I think Tuesday Morning had some too... look in those homewares-type places... or else look for an English shop.
